I just got Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D.,'s new book and his discussion on hypothyroidism really hit home. I'm going to ask my PCP about a trial of thyroid med. In the book, Teitelbaum said that over 47 percent of his fibromyalgia patients have a low thyroid and that 83 percent of these patients have improved by taking a low dose of thyroid hormone. The symptoms are so similar- fatigue, pain, weight gain, brain fog, intolerance to cold, constipation.
He goes into great detail about doctors being undertrained in this area and what they need to know. I actually made copies of the pages and mailed them to my PCP. If it can help even a little I'll be happy!

There must be different thyroid medicines, which one should we ask for?

Listen, my vet just called and said she never uses the regular norms for cats! As my cat is older and borderline she wants him on the thyroid med, low dose.

Hey what works for the kitty......

    Love Anne
