    Anyone else?

I feel as if I have a big ole orange stuck in my throat. I touch one side, just right beside the esophagus & it pushes out the other side. Like a big orange growing in there, (or tumor?)

Jees, are we the most paranoid bunch or what?

My hubby says he thinks it is my glands, I know the ones under my arms are huge huge huge.

    Any remedies for this??

I don't know anything about this.

    Hello Jaci,

As always, it is best to check these things out with your doctor. I just went in this Friday for the fullness in my throat. I have thyroid disease and I thought I may have a growth forming. No, just some swelling. I was having more trouble with swallowing too.

Anyway, an orange is quite large...you should have your other areas checked out as well. My glands swell too and my parotid gland gets blocked from time to time. I also have a tear duct that gets blocked. Crazy stuff...who knows why...

    keep us posted...jan

Is it really that big or are you exagerrating?? If it's that big then you have a serious problem. A friend of mine had that too, and it turned out to be Hodgkins disease. Get your fanny into a throat doctor STAT!!!

Jan, what is a parotid gland?

are really that swollen you need to get to a doctor ASAP. It could be nothing, but there are too many other serious things it could be. I had a fullness - hard to swallow feeling in throat once, when I finally went to the doctor I had a tumor on my thyroid, that is also nothing to mess with. Please let us know what you find out.

I will get it checked out, I was hoping it was just the stupid fibro, hopefully it is, I found a recent post who called it something else and several people responded and they had the same thing.

I just noticed it today, I was feeling it and realixed it seems way too big. I don't think it could be my thyroid tho cuz I think it is too high up.

is a gland that secretes saliva into your mouth. I believe that the parotid is the largest salivary gland. We have two of them and they are located just above the lower jaw. It is quite uncomfortable when it gets blocked. Only my right parotid and right tear duct get blocked. Sometimes is can be unblocked by sucking on a lemon drop or something equally as sour.

    thanks for asking...jan

it is the thyroid, it is enlarged which can be just a symptom of some of the thyroid disorders, I am hypothyroid. I can grab it & move it left to right, it kind of hugs at my esophagus, it fits around it and has the gland part on each side, l & r.

    I will get it checked.

i sometimes have trouble swallowing and i can feel everything i swallow going down and it is very uncomfortable.
my neck feels swollen and sometimes it is very sore, especially on the left side.
i have mentioned this both to my doctor and rheumy, who have not even examined my neck and have just ignored me.

My left Parotid is enlarged, and though it feels OK most of the time, sometimes I get sharp stabbing pains there. The throat specialist just dismissed it out of hand as being nothing more than an enlarged parotid, with no explanation of why it was enlarged, even when I told him that FMS/CFS patients get four types of cancers at much higher rates than normal, and one of them is cancer of the salivary glands. I was just a patient ,so I couldn't possibly know anything!
Can you tell me how you know it is blocked and not something more serious? Also, is sucking a lemon the best way to unblock it and how does that work?
    Thank you,

being treated for Leukemia, there was something about the saliva glands being blocked, now of course I can't remember why it was a problem. But, the specialist told her the same thing, suck on a lemon drop. She was in the hospital in the oncology unit and that was their form of treatment, so must be the one that does the trick.
