First though, something by Winston Churchill

For myself, I am an optimist-
It does not seem to be much use being anything else.

    The poem---

Beautiful Christian Sister, By Maya Angelou

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

    When I say...'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,'
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'

Whe I say...'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say...'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say...'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of sucess.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say...'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say...'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say...'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

    God Bless, love, Cynthia

Beautiful poem ! I would love to share the thoughts in this poem with my non-believing family . I am going to pray that I can convey the essence of the poem to them . They think that a Christian is being perfect , so they watch me closely and remind me when I fall or make a mistake.

What a restricted way for them to have to live. Thank you for posting this poem . It has given me a lot to think about in witnessing to my family.

I like the quote by Churchill too .

You are so right about some people that really like bringing up the fact that we are christian, when we make a mistake.
What they don't understand is, that we are only human, and we aren't the one that was brought here perfect. We are here to try and live our best in Jesus' example of love. He's given us what we need to work on daily, and has surely shown us how to love.

I'm glad you can use this poem. It was actually sent to me in my e-mail. I love it.

Again, that saying in that picture that I have and love...
A picture of Christ, with the words, I never said that it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it.

We go through a lot in this life time, and we can only hope and pray that we learn from our mistakes, use life's experiences as learning experiences, share that love that we have for our Lord toward others. I believe that Love for one another is what it really comes down to.

    Take care Holly, love, Cynthia

Thank you so much! If you don't mind, I'd like to make copiesof the poem for me and all my kids. It says soooo much about how we should live our lives.

I also love the "I never said that it would be easy...." We all fit that so well, don't we?

    Again, thank you Cynthia***Jole***
