A NEW PUNSTER NAME GAME

While I was watching the special on Bernie Madoff last night, it reminded me of a name game in which a person's name is indicative of what he or she does, or is. He made off with everyone's money so the name fits. We used to play this at work and it can be fun and creative--good for the gray matter. I'll start us off with just a couple of names. They needn't be real people.

    Mike Rowave: Appliance salesman
    Sue M. All: Litigator
    Al Dente: Italian pasta chef
    Bette Itall: Compulsive gambler

Hint--looking up words in the dictionary can lead to creativity in this game. For example, polyandry leads to Polly Andry: local divorcee. Hope y'all decide to play. Good luck.

Oh, Good! A new game. Sue M. All reminds me of a coworker who
frequently declared he was going to quit and get a job with
another firm: Dewey, Screwem, and Howe.

Tommy Tune is a real person. Dancer, choreographer, etc. Has
won ten Tonys. His brother Kenny Tune says, Yes, he can adjust
    your piano.

Brian McCorkle is from Ireland. He works in a bottling plant.

James Last, also a real person, was a big band-orchestra leader.
Died last year. His brother was a cobbler.

Annie Oakley was a real person. Was still alive when my Dad was
Young. So was her employer Buffalo Bill Cody for that matter.
Anyhoo Annie had a younger sister named Amy who was also a great shot.

Deborah Kerr's brother Jack operated a small garage. Specialized
    in repairing flat tires.

Glenn Close has a sister who works in Ladies Dresses at Macy's.

    Thanks for posting, Mikie.

Johnny Carson used to do a version of this on his show - "Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe" - Divorce lawyers.

While I've been in relapse, my mind hasn't been working too well but this is just what the doc ordered to help keep from losing it if I'm not using it.

It didn't post so I'll hit the Post Reply button again.

Hi Tiger Lilea, nice to hear from you again. Maybe my old coworker was
quoting Johnny Carson and I mis-remembered the quote.

That looks like a substantial cat in your avatar. The feral cat I feed just
showed up yesterday after an absence of 5 days. It refuses to say where
it's been. This raises an interesting question. If the cat isn't talking, what
    animal has got its tongue?

Here are a couple more names:

    Sal Ami: Sausage maker
    Pearl E. Gates: Angel
    Reese Witherspoon: Chef
    Reese Without her spoon: Actress

Ha! Ha! You guys are great! These are all new ones I hadn't come up with. NICE JOB!!!

Rock, loved the joke about Reese Witherspoon with the spoon. I'd fork over money for jokes like that. You are the sharpest knife in the drawer.

GB, great list. Thanks for playing. I love seeing all the creative things y'all come up with.

TigerLilea, I mentioned on another thread how good it is to see you posting.

I think this is a great creative mind expander and I just love all the thought y'all put into it. Thanks!

Hi Rock and Mikie - I haven't been posting here for probably the past year. Last year, and it looks like again this year, I keep getting sick. It's been one cold, or flu, or sinus infection, after the other. I think I've had more sick days than good ones. :(

Rock, the kitty is Bella. She adopted me three years ago. She's a long hair Russian Blue. Her original owners just live down the road from me, but for whatever reason she decided to change homes. They are the nicest people and are cat lovers so we really don't know why she ran away. Cats definitely have minds of their own.

Hi, Tiger Lilea, Molto Bello Gatto!

I looked up Russian Blues. Read they have green eyes, are
playful and intelligent, and really did come from Russia. Had a friend whose
cat lived 20 years, but she said the last few years it slept almost all the time.
Sorry you've been so illish. I think one of the worst things for so many of us
is that there really isn't much hope of getting better. Been 31 years for me.
But I wasn't totally disabled. Worked part time till 65.

For a musical treat, Folks, you can visit Youtube and listen to the cat
duet by Rossini. Music from his opera William Tell provided the Lone
Ranger with a theme song. (Disclaimer: The cat duet is sung by people; not
    real cats.)

Anyhoo, I like your additions to your post, BG. Jerry Rigger reminds me
of the French de rigueur even though the meanings are essentially
    opposite.

OK, time for a few more silly names or Mikieisms as I think of them.

    A. Moe, A. Mas, A. Mat. The Three Stooges in ancient Rome.
    Laurel and Harley. Unsuccessful comedians.
    Hy Marx. Good student.

Brandy S. Nifter. Can hold her liquor.
    Luke A. Way. Southern Planter.
Cousin of River Phoenix and Tom Cruise:
    River Cruise. Deck Hand.

    Hugh E. Reaction. Chemist.
    Augusta Wind. Fan dancer.
    Ann Teak. Sells old furniture.

    Hi Kids

Thank you for you good intentions with regard to "likes", Mikie.
Not to worry. What's a little spin between friends, anyhoo? After
all, the Earth is spinning over a thousand miles an hour, and we
    don't even notice.

I liked Cy D. Burns, BG. Tried to do Elvis myself, but all I could
think of was Sid E. Burns, and that didn't work too well. I like
Patty Cakes too. Wasn't there a Patty Cake in Peanuts?

Oops! Just looked it up. It was Peppermint Patty. Reminds me.
Gordon and I went to the Charles Schulz museum ages ago.
Musta been in the 80s. In Santa Rosa, CA near Sonoma where
my son went to college. The museum was near the Schultz
home and an ice skating rink he built for his daughter. BTW
    Schulz was a Minneapolis boy.

Speaking of Minnesota, here are a couple Norskie names:
    Bjorn Free, Lion advocate
    N. Ree Fjord, Car dealer

    Al Nino, weather man
Al S. B. Tokesless, in therapy
    Ione A. Harley, biker

Ha ha! You guys are great. I should look at my big list. I see some of yours on it but I have others too. I think you guys are more creative than I at this game. I play it like I do crossword puzzles--to try to keep my gray matter alive.

I liked your post, Rock, but had trouble with liking yours, GB. Finally, it let me do it. Worse problem is when the website won't let me ban scammers. Several time, I just had to delete their messages. Most of the time, though, if I persist, I finally get rid of them.

    Love you guys,

    HI Kids

Just woke up from a long nap. The B & W cat was asleep in the back
yard on an old mat that Zippy used. I think it's 5 years since the
coyote killed Zippy. Still miss the little rascal.

Thanks for the appreciation, Mikie. Did you compile or write the
impressive list you posted? Lots of imaginative names there. I'd
say I especially like some of them, but that would be a very long
list. As for scammers, I haven't seen any for quite a while. You
must be nipping them in the bud.

Buncha good names you posted, GB. The first one could be "C. N.
Starrs" too. I never knew anyone one named Iona, but I knew
a colorful old lady named Ione. She had one of the first TVs when
there were only 3 sets in town. My mother used to
go visit her on Wednesday nights to watch Arthur Godfrey.

Here's another Norskie name I forgot to post earlier. Ole
    Laye E. Hoo, yodeler.
