    A Prayer For December

Give us, O God, the vision which can see Thy Love in the world,
    In spite of human failure.

Give us the faith, to trust thy goodness,
In spite of our ignorance and weakness.

Give us thy knowledge, that we may continue to pray
    With understanding hearts.
And show us what each one of us can do to set forward,
The coming of the day of Universal Peace.
    ............................................................
This is the prayer that astronaut Frank Borman delivered as he and two other astronauts soared around the moon, Christmas Eve, 1968, in their spacecraft Apollo 8. The prayer along with a reading from Genesis, was transmitted to earth, where it was heard by millions of people around the globe.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Somehow not only at Christmas
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others
Is the joy that comes back to you.

And the more you spend inblessing
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart's possessing
    Returns to make you glad.
