    Hi everyone,

Once again I am trying to get some information on Lyme. I am waiting test results.

Does herxing happen when you are not on any treatment for Lyme? Is it possible that if you have Lyme that every four weeks your symptoms are much worse for no apparent reason?

Thanks again for all the great info

A herx is a die off of organisms as a result of a medication or herb you are taking. What you are experiencing is the lifecycle of Lyme or whatever other critter plagueing you, and the resulting effects it has on your body.

Like Lyme and Mycoplasmas invade host cells and reproduce. When they kill the host cell, they go in search of another cell to infect in the bloodstream. It may well be that Lyme kills off host cells about every 28 days or so. Having these pathogens in the bloodstream could make one feel worse. It actually could lead to an immune response and Herxing if one's immune system were able to recognize and kill some of the Lyme off. The immune response comes when the immune system recognizes the pathogen and the Herxing, with sweating, nausea, and diarrhea, comes if too many pathogens are killed off at one time. The body can only excrete so many dead pathogens before they become toxic. At that point, the body goes into overdrive, trying to purge the necrotic matter from the body. Otherwise, a toxic-shock-like illness can occur.

    Hope this helps.

    Love, Mikie
