I am curious, I had carpel tunnel surgery in my right hand back in 1996, could this have triggered my fibromyalgia???? Just wondering, it was a very mild surgery but I know that sometimes surgery can sort of "bring on" fibromyalgia. Anyway, that was my question. Thanks in advance for your responses!!!

I think many situations can trigger fibro. It's just possible that was when it happened.

Hope others answer - we have a lot of smart people on this board!

I`m not one of the smart people on here but I do know that a surgery that was thought to be ( a piece of cake surgery ) put me into the most terrible pain with many side effects like making it difficult to swallow and leaving me with a hoarse voice at times. All of the rest of the things that go with this disease followed.Icame to the conclusion that it does`nt matter what kind of surgery you have there is the possibility that it can cause fm big time. I also know of a woman who had shoulder surgery and ended up with this burning terrible pain.I believe it can and does happen.
