Anyone watching the show this year? Who is your favorite? What do you think of the new judges table?

I like Ellen, but I don't think it was a good move having her be a judge. She just doesn't really say much, and I don't think she is adding much to the show. She isn't coming off as funny as I thought she would. Although I thought she was MUCH better this last week than she was the first week. She actually gave some good feedback this week. I think she may have been very nervous that first week.

I can't stand Kara....she just comes off so full of herself. Although she has good comments and criticisms, because she knows what she is talking about, she is very boring to watch and to listen to. I'm sorry, but the show is just not the same without Paula. And you can tell that Simon misses her. Kara tries to be funny and witty, but it doesn't work. And it's very annoying how she tries to hang all over Simon.

So far, I really don't think this is a good season. I really don't think a lot of the people left are all that great. Only 1 or 2 of them are any good, I think. None of them have really "grabbed" me yet. I like the goofy girl, Siohban (sp?). She can really sing, but she is just "strange".
As for the guys, I did like the guy with the glasses and tatoo on his neck (can't recall his name), but he has disappointed me these past two weeks...he keeps picking really bad songs.

So if you are watching, tell me what you think!! :)

I can't believe it...but this is the first season that I haven't watched. It just didn't grab me this year at all--maybe the lack of Paula! I like that guy Andrew Garcia--that's about it; and I hope he wins. But it seems like a lackluster year.

I may watch it toward the end. So different from the year of Jason Castro and David Cooke, right?

I've watched most of the AI's this season and agree with you that Ellen is out of place. I love her humor but this is a singing contest. On the plus side, she seems to have channeled Paula when it comes to finding at least ONE positive thing to give each singer. I've watched the kid's faces while the judges (especially Simon) are ripping them apart. When it gets to Ellen she seems to know the poor kid needs something positive to take away.

Still, the show won't be the same once Simon leaves. He may be cruel at times but he's usually right on the mark.

Kara is another story. Her embarrassing Cougar behavior with the blond guy (Casey, I think) was over the top. I think she was told to cool it after the first week because last week she cut him off at the knees.

I wish they'd move her away from Simon. She seems to think she needs to take Paula's job by rubbing herself all over him. The difference is that Simon and Paula were actually friends.

It's funny, but I still think of Kara as the 4th judge. An addition that wasn't needed.

Of the kids I disagree with Simon. The guys are way better than the girls. The Bowersox girl seems to be the only potential headliner. Most of the others, I have no idea how they made it past the audition.

Of the guys, I like Big Mike and Lee Dewyze (sp?).

I don't like it that we had to have 12 girls, 12 guys to start with. A lot of really good talent didn't make it because of that quota limit.

So far I haven't been moved to pick up the phone and vote yet. But, I'll admit it's fun to have the show back. It makes me believe Spring is coming.

Well.......I see by the amount of replies that the show really isn't that popular anymore, huh? LOL. Yes, Laura...this season just isn't like 2 years ago. I am just not that into it. You know what? I got to meet Jason again a month ago, and I was very disappointed again with him. Everyone else I knew (from the internet) that met him had such wonderful stories about meeting him. Well this is my 2nd time, and he never really even looked at me. He just signed my picture...he didn't even ask me my name. It made me feel awful. Whatever though. He got married, and I talked to his wife for a long time. She was actually very sweet and down to earth.

Nancy, I so agree about Simon. I don't think there will be a show without him. He MAKES the show! And I agree too that the guys are MUCH better than the girls this season. I think there are only 1 or 2 girls who have any potential. The one with dreadlocks (is her name Crystal?) and the one with the big voice (Siobhan).

Of the guys, there aren't many that impress me. I was actually sad to see Toddrick (sp?) go. I thought he was very entertaining, but the judges ripped him apart every week. Which bugged me. They are always telling these people to change up the song, make it their own; they criticize them when they sound too much like the original and blah, blah, blah.
Well Toddrick actually did that, and they told him he changed the songs TOO much. And they didn't like the arrangements; and that he was a dancer and not a singer. I felt sorry for him every week, because I think he was really trying, and I thought he had a lot of potential.

I felt really bad for the other guy (Alex?) who left....that kid always looked so sad to begin with, and when he heard the news, his face made me want to cry. He had a cool, unusual voice, but I dont think he could have won the show. Kinda boring.

I am really surprised the guy who got called back after they had already picked the 24 is still there. I don't think he is that good at all. And I don't get the hairdo. Reminds me of the Partridge Family. Is that look coming back?

I thought Big Mike was fantastic this week. I watched that performance over and was very touching and beautiful. And that song hit home for me. I thought Kara was overreacting just a "tinch" - she is such a drama queen.

We'll see, but I think it is the best Top 12 that they could have had out of the people they chose. I am just not that into this season. They seriously need to get rid of one of the judges. It is so boring having to sit through 4 of them talking on and on.

I love American Idol; however, I think this year is the worst year for talent ... or no talent!!

Of the people in the top 12, I like Big Mike and Casey James--is that him name? --the guy with the long blond hair that Kara asked him to take off his shirt during the auditions.

I like Ellen on her TV show, but I think she is out of her league as a judge on this show.

    I like Kara.

I liked Paula and miss her.

I will also miss Simon next year, it will be hard to find someone as qualified as he to replace him!

Is anyone still watching?? This show certainly seems to be losing it. It is just not as good as it used to be. But I am still watching faithfully.

I was very shocked that Mike got the lowest amount of votes. He seems so likable. I really don't like Tim. I don't understand how he is still there?? he is not that good. And he wasnt even in the bottom 3. Are the young girls taken by him and are they voting for him?? He really annoys me.

I am rooting for Lee. I love his voice, and his shyness and humility I find, quite charming. I also like Casey. As for the girls, I like Crystal. She is very talented, but I don't know that I would buy her's just not my style.

JLH...I miss Paula too. It is just not the same without her. And the show is really going to tank when Simon leaves if they dont find someone like him. Howard Stern was one of the people who was rumored to replace him. Personally, I think Howard would be perfect for the show, (I listen to his radio show & he is not as bad as people really think he is) - the only problem is Ellen and Kara said they would quit if Howard replaces Simon. All of the other people I have heard mentioned really don't interest me. AI will have some really big shoes to fill next year!

I really think Paula WAS the show, and without her they have lost momentum.

I have not been watching with regular consistency, so I really do not know what is going on. I like Crystal and Casey; but I think it may be a girls year, so maybe Crystal.

I will watch the finale though, just for the entertainment, to see Kris Allen again--and hopefully Adam Lambert. And I do so hope David Cooke makes an appearance!!

I listen to Adam's new song all the time (What Do You Want From Me); Kris's not so much!!

Anyway, that's my take on AI for today!!

I was really surprised they (judges) used there only 1 save for the season. i thought maybe they would use the save for someone of the last 2 or 3 but they used the save for Big Mike.

My guess for the winner is Crystal Bowersox. i really do think she will be the #1 winner.
Her voice has what it will take to be the winner, in my opinion.
i think 2nd place will be the tall curly blonde hair guy, that Kara is wild about. Can't think of his name, darn. Oh, Casey is his name.

For the judges, Kara needs to be sitting next to Randy. I'm surprised Simon hasn't moved his chair yet, Kara is just about sitting on his lap at times.LOL

Oh well, overall the show is getting better since its near the end.
    I'll keep watching this season.

I agree Laura....Paula was the show. You never knew how she was going to react, and it was quite entertaining. Kara tries to act like Paula did in a way, by hanging all over Simon, but it just doesn't work. She is not funny at all, and I cringe when she tries to crack jokes with Simon. I DO however, think she knows her stuff. You can tell she is in the music business and she knows talent when she hears/sees it. I agree with her opinions most of the time. But the chemistry of the judges just isn't the same as before. And I think 4 judges is too many.

Yes, Diane I think Howard would be perfect. The only problem with him is, a lot of America thinks he is just this slimy pig who only talks about porn stars. And since you have listened to him, you know that is not true. He is actually very intelligent (I think borderline genious) and his opinions and thoughts on a lot of issues are always very interesting. He is not afraid to be brutally honest (like Simon) and I think he would be very interesting to see on the show. People say he has no musical background, but neither does Ellen. Howard has worked in radio since he was out of college, so he DOES know a bit about music.

Butterfly...I too was surprised they used that save on Mike. He is a good singer, but not "great". They know the audience is fickle, and sometimes a really great singer gets the boot, and no one can figure out why (ex..Chris Daughtry) - they should have saved that "save" until that happened, which it could. Mike isn't going to win, so why save him?

It will be interesting this week, because now TWO people are going to be voted off.

I have been watching since season 2 and have been really disappointed with the talent this year.I'm so sick of the singers choosing the wrong songs over and over again.I was so glad big Mike was saved.I couldn't believe he got the least amount of votes. It's past time for Tim to go.It should be interesting having Adam as a mentor this week.Hopefully, everyone will pick good songs and sing them well.

I am also surprised that Big Mike received the least amount of votes and would have been gone had it not been for the judges saving him.

I heard that the judges can only use the save up to the last 5. So maybe that's why they went ahead and used it.

I am a big Simon fan and really hate to see him go; however, I heard on TV that they have decided on his replacement and talked with him and he agreed to do it ... it's Neil Diamond!!!

My favorites are still Big Mike, Casey James, and Crystal Bowersox--if she is the girl with the rats-nest hair and pierced chin. Ugh! OMG, I wish she would take those dread-locks, or whatever they are, out of her hair and give it a good washing and styling!!!!!!!! And, remove that chin ring! What is wrong with these young people!! She could still be "hip" looking, or even attractive, is she would do something else with her hair and ditch the chin or lip ring!! Now this is just my personal opinion!!! And IF you happen to like it, it's OK with me!! LOL

I think Neil Diamond will make a much better judge than Howard Stern. Personally, I don't think I could stomach Howard Stern!!!

Can't wait to see what happens this week!!

I think i'll choose Casey for the winner.

I didn't realize Crystal was having alot of diabetes complications and nearly left the show permanently recently. With missing her son so much, anything can happen with her staying or leaving. It's so near the end of season, hope she will stay.
If Crystal stays i think she'll win the season show.
If Crystal leaves i think Casey will have a good chance at being the winner.

Any others still guessing at who may win this season ?

I think Siobhan (spelling?) was one of the best last night. They all did well. It'll be interesting tonight to see who leaves.

Shania's songs were a really good choice, I think she gave a lot of good tips to them.

between her and Casey. I was happy Casey stayed.

Alot of votes were called in for the show.

Shania's songs were all so good.

Next week will be another fun show to watch.

Wow this is some tough competition with the ones that are left.

i was glad to see Casey still there this week.
Next week will be even better to watch.
Gets exciting as each week they are getting closer to who will win .

Well, I have to say I am rather bored with this season. I don't know.....I am just watching it now just to watch I guess. I'm not really rooting for anyone and I am certainly not voting.
I just think the show is boring this year.

Who do we have left?? Let's see....
Lee----I think he is my favorite; I like his voice the best, and I like that he is gaining confidence in himself. I think he has a good chance to win.

Crystal----I like her too. Great voice. Her style is really not what I like, but I do like her voice. I think she also has a shot. I think it is going to come down to her and Lee in the finale.

Big Mike----I like him, but he isn't really that original. I think an album from him would be boring; you know? But I do like his personality; he seems like a great guy.

Casey----I have liked him all along, however, Kara hit the nail on the head this week when she told him he sounded like a sheep. He has a fantastic voice, but sometimes he does make a sound like a sheep, and that has always bothered me about him. I think he will be next to go, unfortunately. I do think he is a cutie though.

That's it, right? Did I forget anyone? That is how not into it I am this year....I don't even know if there are 4 or 5 left. LOL. I was sorry to see Aaron go...I did like him.
