This is well known in Scotland (sshhh Paulmack) and might be over your way too.

Come a riddle, come a riddle
    come a roat toat toat
A wee, wee man in a red, red coat
    A staff in his hand
And a stone in his throat
Come a riddle, come a riddle
    Come a roat toat toat

I loved this when I was a wee girl.

Qweevox. I looked up Scottish riddles. Found this one. The only problem was, no answer was provided.

Brings to mind another riddle about the cherry that had no stone, etc.
