I've just started taking fluoxitine (prozac) for depression due to my circumstances. I have been prescribed 20mg a day. I was talking to another ME (CFS) sufferer that told me that due to the nature of ME I should be taking half that dose. I don't know what to do. Am I taking too much now? and could that harm me? Has anyone seen a specialist ME doctor that has info on this?

Usually with ME you are very sensitive to medication.

I started on Effaxor last month but instead of 37.5mg twice a day which is the ususal dose, I have been prescribed it only once a day. I have so far had no side effects.

I usually find if you halve the normal dosage you are okay.

The best thing for you to do is try the 20mg and see how you go. If you experience any unpleasant side effects cut it down to 10mg.
