My last doc I had in this area literally told me "I feel sorry for you" in an email. I need a new doc STAT. I go to the FFC, but they recommend I have a PCP close by as well.

Anyone know of any good docs for CFS in the Washington, DC or Northern Virginia area?

but I live about 20 miles south of Richmond. I do have a great family doc who treats me FMS.

I do know there are a few other members who live in the Northern part of VA.

I hope they will reply to you. Hope your post stays bumped.

I know of a practice but they aren't preferred providers for any insurance. They will submit for you, if you have Blue cross, but it costs more.

However, the positives are that they are medical doctors and alternative specialists. The doctors are the Steinmetz medical group. They have a website at They use regular as well as homeopathy, acupuncture, etc. I really recommend them.

I've been to them and they are understanding. Also, I was diagnosed by a Rheumatologist Dr Harvey Schwartz, who happens to be one of the areas top doctors, but he doesn't file with Bluecross either.....SO, I'm going to go to a Rheumatologist in DC in January Dr. Rothenberg. He wrote an article and I found it on the web. I called for an appointment and was told by his staff that he's a great doctor.

My current Internist is Dr. Steven Yang. He's open to the fibro, but I haven't asked for any meds, because I'm too sensitive, however, he's a graduate of George Washington University and they recognize FM as a disease. He always asks me how I'm sleeping, so he's aware.

What's wrong with your doc that they would say that to you? FM is a clearly documented illness. It's becoming more researched each day. I read that we don't have enough hormones in our central nervous system. This is what Dr. Weil said on his web site, and he is a well noted physician who is open to alternatives, but not gullible.

Hope this helps. If you'd like to e-mail me, my e-mail is

I'll be watching this because I'm interested also. Thanks

I've only been there once, but they treat a lot of patients with fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed, given appropriate meds and listened to. The practice is called the Northern Virginia Center for Arthritis and they're located in Landsdowne (Leesburg)next to the hosptial. I go back again in two weeks and we'll see then if I'm still as happy with them. Good luck.
