I'm really getting tired of my doctor being so squirmish about dealing with pain medication. I mean it's like when you have an incurable, chronic condition with extreme discomfort, all you can do is take medication. So, who's concerned about becoming dependent upon it...........we already are dependent! I take him material from all of the websites, trying to keep him up to date on what's going on out there. Anyway, I really need to find someone in the Atlanta area, preferrably in the northeast Atlanta area (Gwinnett County). Anyone got any suggestions? Or comments about doctors?

Sorry I am not in your area, but you might consider contacting the nearest "teaching hospital" - and see if they have a pain management clinic - or doctors who specialize in pain management.

The problem with many doctors is, they prescribe pain meds, eg.opiates, then don't know how to handle it when you develop tolerance.

I have a excellent pain specialist here in California and he openly admits it is so common for doctors to give you pain meds, then all of a sudden cut you off with no help.

My doctor believes in the quality of your life, and if that means taking opiates, then you should have them. For your information, when someone develops a tolerance to opiates (it takes a long time) there is a drug called Subutex you can take which enables you to stop opiates immediately with no withdrawals. Plus, Subutex treats pain.

After a while, you can re-start opiates at a much lower dosage and get good pain relief again.

A doctor has to be specially licensed to prescribe Subutex and many just don't care enough to do it.

I will do a seach on the internet and see if I can find doctors in your area..

    I found the following:

I have started going to a new doctor for my chronic fatigue. I just started with him on Jan 9th. Go to drdaveou dot com and click on 'diseases treated' to see if you think he could help you. Then read his entire protocol to see if you think you could comply with his treatment.

    Good luck,

doctor I found who really discusses fibro and pain management. He also prescribes Buprenorphrine (Subutex) to address tolerance issues, if that ever happens - so that means he believes in opiate treatment.

This might be good one to call. If he is familiar with Subutex, then he is really treating long term pain. If you go to his website, he has videos you can watch on his treatment of fibro.

    His site below:

    Do Suffer from Chronic Pain?

Then Welcome Home to Dr. Gatell's Website for the...

    Atlanta Pain Relief Center

Serving the Metro-Atlanta area and the Southeastern United States from Peachtree City, Georgia !

"We are a Pain Relief Center specializing in the treatment of Chronic Intractable Pain Syndromes including Fibromyalgia-Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (FM-CFIDS), Chronic Neck and Back Pains, Failed Neck or Back Surgery Pain Syndromes, Intractable Headaches, and Chronic Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD)!"

"We have Painless and Non-surgical Approaches to Chronic Pain Control !

You can get pain relief now without dangerous surgical procedures !"

Please read our disclaimer at least once before proceeding on this web site.

You simply don't have to suffer with chronic pain because your medical doctors and surgeons tell you to " with it."

Yes, you can have adequate or excellent pain relief here without surgery or un-necessary and potentially dangerous nerve blocks - thus avoiding the usual "block-shops" as has been coined by one of my patients.

Chronic pain is a complex syndrome that can affect any one of us. So, why not try less dangerous procedures first, before moving onto the needles and surgery.

In most cases however, we help patients by customizing their chronic pain management and offer other medical therapies in order to help reduce chronic intractable pains, yet avoid any over-sedation.

Basically, chronic pain usual involves many levels of the nervous system and may also result in many psychological effects as well. Chronic pain can also be worsened, or be a result of, other psychological stressors of the past or the stress of functioning in modern day society.

I think you will find some interesting and informative materials on this web site that may help you finally find adequate pain relief.

Feel free to make one copy of items herein to take to your local primary or local pain doctor, or you are always welcome to contact me at .

I do help patients in severe chronic pain locally and from all areas of the United States. So, you may also call to set up an appointment to visit me just 21 miles south of Atlanta and the International Atlanta Airport, in Peachtree City, Georgia.

We are open Mondays thru Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm: you can call 770-632-2770 for an appointment after obtaining a referral from your primary care doctor.

So, don't be called a "drug-addict" anymore because some doctors are not adequately treating your severe chronic pain - a condition I call iatrogenic pseudo-addiction or doctor-caused and a false-appearing addiction because patients are made to seek drugs from many sources because of inadequate care - a very dangerous situation for patients.

I get patients with severe chronic pain better after years of suffering with my very personalized approach and without any un-necessary and dangerous procedures - see the my results by clicking the menu item "Our Shining Stars!"

Unfortunately, many physicians and other health care professionals, can not help their patients with chronic pain, and basically abandon them, because of the confusion regarding addiction, physical drug tolerance and physical withdrawal from narcotics: Please see definitions and guidelines of the American Society of Addiction Medicine at .

If you do have addiction problems and chronic pain, then there are alternative treatments with pain medicines or Outpatient Buprenorphine Detoxification is also available. Buprenorphine is a narcotic that can also help with chronic pain, but much less addicting. So, patients in chronic pain can be maintained on Buprenorphine as well.

I believe in President Harry Truman's saying "...the buck stops here..." with my medical pain management !

And, all new patients will need a primary care physician and medical records before their first visit !

Direct referral by your primary care doctor can be fax to 770-632-2885, followed by a call from you for an appointment at 770-632-2770.

Also, please read and complete the on-line pre-consult form to save some time before the first visit.

Remember, you don't have to suffer anymore!

May God Bless you and your family, forever !

    Sincerely yours,

    John A. Gatell, MD

Here are a few video clips of Dr. Gatell with his patients that will require a few minutes to initially download. You will need a good video player like "Windows Media Player 9" which can be downloaded for free. Download Windows Media Player Here

Dr. Gatell's Welcome to this Website ! (File size 15.8 MB)

Video Case 1: Fibromyalgia is a hyper-irritable pain syndrome, causing most cases of chronic pain including RSD, and worsening any other medical or psychiatric condition, including other nerve injuries around the spinal cord, resulting in many un-necessary nerve blocks or surgeries. (File size 26.6 MB)

Video Case 2: Lack of specific fibromyalgia causes much un-necessary chronic pain and suffering. (File size 5.5 MB)

Video Case 3: A Call From The South with Miss Mary, Doctor Angel and G_d ! : "Just Help One Somebody !"(File size 31.8 MB - worth downloading) : This is a testimonial of a innocent 49 year old Afro-American female with severe fibromyalgia causing severe chronic generalized pains. Her chronic pain was stable on a dose of OxyContin 80 mg three times a day for approximately 2 years. This pain relief allowed her walk again and function on a daily basis. Then, her new local "pain specialist" stopped her narcotic therapy suddenly for some paranoid fear of an anticipated "class action suit" against Purdue Pharmaceutical, Inc. Out of desperation, the patient attempted suicide, but was rescued by her daughter and G_d ! Ironically, Miss Mary once stood up to the real drug addicts in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and she made the local news ! Me thinks we can all learn from Miss Angel Mary, sent to us for this special purpose ! She is a on mission of the Truth, the Word and to help save patients in severe chronic pain ! Watch out Oprah Winfrey !

Video Case 4 & 5: Virginia and Gary B. from Mississippi

Video Case 6 & 7: Mark and Crystal M. - Brother and Sister with Intractable Fibromyalgia, OCD, ADD, Migraines and Genetics

Video Case 8: Justice for Justin ! - Reversal of Fibromyalgia with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in a Teenager with Guaifenesin!

Video Case 9: (33.5 MB Download) Brinda T. - A 52 year old lady with fibromyalgia and repressed Childhood Trauma, helped with Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and a blend Gestalt Techniques on her first visit. Ms. Brinda was able to laugh about her past trauma versus suppressing her anger, which makes fibromyalgia worse.

I love the FFc Atlanta and Dr Bullington and I am 80-90% better after 9 months of treatment. I don't need pain meds now.

I liked my former Rhuemy as a person he seemed to be understanding but he only treats the symptoms(like sleep and pain) and does not get to the root cause to try and actually cure you. The last thing he told me was find a support group so I found another Dr who could help me. His name was Jeferey Leiberman so I would steer clear of him.

    Good Luck! Lynn
