I'm looking for a doctor right now that has some experience treating fibromyalgia/chronic fat. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Sissy, welcome to the board. Have you tried our 'Doctor Referral' link at the top of this page, and also FM Network at; 1-800-853-2929.

The board is slow on the weekends/holidays, so if necessary keep your post bumped up for additional replies.

    Again, welcome to the board!

Tell me! Jax is the next 'big city' (I'm in the boonies.)

I did notice that St. Armand's FM referral page had two listings for Jacksonville -- one a Licensed Massage Therapist, and one M.D. If you decide to go, I'm very interested in hearing about your experience.

I called around all over about a year ago, but I didn't have much luck then, but things change. I even called pharmacies, alternative practitioners, etc., but really didn't get a lot of direction. One of the most frustrating things was calling MDs, and having their referral staff ask, "Hmmm, what kind of specialist would treat that...hmmmm...". As if because it couldn't be narrowed down to one body part, they couldn't figure out how to help.

I go to a good arthritis dr. at Mayo Clinic. I also have some fibromyalgia. It all seems to be interrelated. You might want to check to see if Dr. Marc Cohen at Mayo Clinic treats this. Hope so or maybe they have someone.

I had been going to one out in Ponte Vedra for several years and suddenly she left. Well, the doctor that took over her office aggreed to see her patients. I went to him one time. Paid out of pocket $65.00. He spent 15 minutes explaining his philosophy. Then ordered me to have another e-ray of my neck ( from a fall 5 yrs ago?????) then he wanted to see me back in 3 weeks to discus, are you ready? REHABILATION! No meds were ever discussed. He undoubted was cluesless to the needs of those suffering from Fibro. His name, so you won't forget it, is Dr. Canlas.

Thank you for the welcome Shirl. I will check out your info on Tuesday. Had a good doc here in Orange Park, south of Jax, but she I really want a referral before I go to a new one. The guy taking her place is refilling my meds, thankfully.......sissy

I am also trying to find a compound pharmacist, too. Why must this be so hard? Sissy
