This has been going on for about 3 weeks I finally made an appointment with a doctor for tomorrow, I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Every time I swallow it feels like I am being stabbed in the throat and it kinda radiates to my left ear, I still have my tonsils and they are red and irritated and a couple of weeks ago my neck tightened up and I couldn't hardle move my head, and it's sore to the touch on the outside...

So strange, I have had it with all this crap!!!

    Blessings,

I have also experienced throat problems. I had went to the hospital and they did some kind of swallow test on me. Everthing came back normal of course, like every other test. It felt like I could'nt feel myself swallow on one side. I still get it sometimes and also the pain.
I know that sounds weird but it was very real. Hope all goes well for you.
    Blessings to you

I have chronic ear and throat pain that flares up every few weeks. I went to a mean, rude EMT specialist who said I was just stressed and it was TMJ. He recommended taking 3 advil 3 times a day. I called my PCP to confirm that 9 advil a day was not harmful....he said I would be fine. I was amazed that the pain went away. But I'll never go back to the EMT. =)

    Hi Kelly,

I have throat symptoms. I sometimes feel like the food won't go down when I swallow. It just sits there. I drink water to make it go down but it's only partially successful. I don't know what causes this - haven't had a swallow study done.

I also have a lump in my throat. I had an ultrasound to see if it was my thyroid but it's not. My endo said it's probably a lymph node and not to worry about it.

Sorry if I'm not much help. At least you know you're not alone. I'm glad you're going to see your Dr. Hopefully they'll give you some answers.

Sorry to hear that you are having such a bad experience with your throat. I get a tightening thing going on but no actual pain there. My pain is in the back of my neck/head and I cannot turn my head. It makes it really hard (and scary) to drive.

    Take care

    hi kelly,

do you have Sjogren's Syndrome? i just went to a rheumatologist yesterday and she told me have this. what i've read states that the dry mouth (salivary gland malfuntion) may result in difficulty chiewing, swallowing, secondary Candida infection, tooth decay and calculi (stones?) in the salivary ducts. you can have enlarged glands (salivary). if you have dry respritory tract, that can cause coughing or lung infections (and coughing is hard on the neck and throat, eh?).

    Get your thyroid checked.....very important
Tumors can grow off the thyroid igland in your throat causing pain like you said and it can cut off your breathing.

my fiance had chronic strep throat, and got awfully sick from it, so your doc should really check that, especially since you said you still had your tonsills (just like my fiance). Then i read we can get problems with swallowing too, like food not wanting to go down, and its kinda like the thing they found where you have slowed down digsttion.
They wanted to do all kinds of expensive tests. That really pissed me off, since i talked to another drug rep who was friends with this great GP, and he said--chronic strep. He was right. Her symptoms weren't quite like you describe...did you get you teeth looked at too? He also said if i remember (this was 6 months ago)--make sure there is no tooth abcess, and you may have to take her to get a dental X ray, something like that. Hope this helps.

I have weird problems too. Swallowing problems. I require lots of liquid. I have some erosion in my esophagus that is slow in healing possibly from reflux. I have to avoid alot of different foods and drinks.

I had my neck worked on (C567) and now I can't turn my neck while chewing or I choke.

Also, when I was 32 a man slipped into my house and nearly suffocated me by covering my nose and cramming a cotton baby sheet down my throat - it is possible that it could have damaged something causing the erosion.

Best to get it checked out.
