Ok, we have been to several Dr.'s. Our problem are meds, we can't find anything helpful and my daughter has basically been bedridden the past couple of months. Our PCF is basically useless and the Rheumotologist was also. Do you think a doctor that specializes in the brain could help with this stuff. Anyone had good/bad experiences? There has to be something that can help with some of her symptoms, cause there are so many, including bad/migraine type headaches.

Before I was diagnosed and still in the "what in the world is going on here" stage, I ended up in the hospital one weekend with dehydration from vomiting/diarrhea, hurting from FMS (which I would not accept I had). My neuro came in, looked me over thoroughly, administered some imitrix in my IV and within minutes I raised up in amazement. I did not know I even had a headache, much less a migraine!

He has been the one to treat the spinal stenosis that can accompany these conditions...rephrase, he proposes a treatment plan and my Primary effects it; ditto w/the rheumy. I think the world of the skill and knowledge my neuro exhibited. CactusLil'

    Hi Judee,

nothing to add to CactusLil's post. I've had pretty much the same experience she describes.

Good luck, hope you find help for your daughter soon!

I have the fortune of having found a neuro who specializes in pain disorders INCLUDING fibro and cf. I would definately check it out!

Thanks for your responses regarding a neuro doc. Is Imitrix for headaches specifically? What can be the negative effects? Does it treat more for FM than just the headaches?

My neuro "didn't believe in" CFS or FM and was of absolutely no value as far as that goes. She did, however, test for & eliminate other conditions, such as lyme disease, MS, etc. so that was helpful....sounds like others here have had much better luck with neuros; I'm envious because so many of my symptoms ARE neurological in nature, I'd love to find a neuro who treats & really understands this syndrome!! Good luck to you & your daughter--

    Judee:

I was dx'd 3 years ago by a fill-in GP intern, sent to a rheumy, who referred me to a pain clinic, which quickly sent me on to a neurologist, who was a big help. I don't see him anymore, but he started me on Neurontin, one of my most helpful meds. More, he referred me to a psychiatrist-chronic pain specialist who is now my primary doctor.

As far as migraines, I have a post on that, and there are good posts in the thread on "excruciating pain, please help, my first migraine."

My thots are with you & your daughter.
