I was on Trazadone for so long that now I am having problems sleeping again. So my Rhumey wants me to try Nortriptyline (generic name) just wondered if anyone had or are taking this drug.

I have taken Pamelor in the past, and didn't have any problem with it

However, about 1 year ago, I started it again and my heart was racing out of control, and I was a wreck.

Of course, everyone reacts differently to drugs

Currently, I am taking it for sleep 100mg. I do get better sleep but I am not sure if I am getting any deep sleep.

I don't know if it's the sleep or the AD, but my pain is so much better.

    Good luck!

I have taken pamelor since 1992! 75mg at night. I was in the hospital for a asmatic bronchitisis. I was a smoker and told the Dr I had been depressed for years and wanted to stop smoking too.

He gave me pamelor and my depression was so much better for the longest time.

About 4 years ago because of family issues I take Lexepro and pamelor and it works.

Best of luck, I have tried several times to go off if and I don't sleep as well, that is why I still take it.Carla

ps- My neuro Dr and psych Dr both say it is good for FM and the muscle pain.[This Message was Edited on 08/18/2006]

Pamelor at bedtime for sleep. I only take 10 mg and the only side effect I have noticed is dry mouth. I have been on it for about a year. I can take up to 3 a night but I have such a low tolerance for meds that I just go with one and it seems to help alot. I sleep and I don't have such wild dreams any more. Sue

this was the first medication prescribed by my cautious GP. It did nothing any good for me. It was when I was beginning to have FM/CFIDS symptoms but never saw a specialist yet. I took it for 45 days but it wasn't for me. Did nothing for sleep & gave me the sense of being out of my body all the time. Like I saw myself ahead of myself. Wierd. Also didn't even begin to touch the pain levels.

Since then I've seen several rheumies & received FM/cfids diagnois & also a sleep specialist who has helped me for almost 3 years.
