Anyone have parotitis?

My ENT just diagnosed parotitis, an inflammation of the salivary glands. The pain is felt just below the ears and into the jaw line. The doctor said that the problem I have is an offshoot of my fibromyalgia. There is no infection, just mild to moderate discomfort. I would be interested to know if anyone else has this problem?

I have had that sort of pain for years. Just thought it was part of my TMJD. How do they diagnose it? Mick!!

The ENT examined my neck ( palpating the swollen area, although from looking at me you would not know there was swelling), and then he looked in my mouth. When he squeezed the salivary gland clear fluid came out, meaning no infection. He has told me to suck sugar free lemon drops and to use warm compresses three times a day.

Maybe I will try that to see if it helps when mine seems to flare. Same way for me. Can't see the swelling but I can feel it.Do you have TMJD? just curious....Mick!!

Yes, I do have TMJ, but until now have had no jaw pain.
