My sleep specialist offered this to me, but I wanted to check with anyone who actually has first-hand experience.

I just started it about two weeks ago along with a sleep med at night. It worked great. I would give it a try.

We've discussed this drug a lot. You should find quite a few posts on it.

Taken it off and on for about two years now .... my rx is 100mgs .... can take one or two 2xd. It has worked very well and has not interfered with appetite or sleep. I have never gotten tolerant to it ... same amount has always worked.

I also have an rx for adderall .... I obviously don't take both on the same day ... it works well for me too. They accomplish the same goal but work in different ways. I have had my adderall rx for 6-7 months ... again, no tolerance build up and no problems on days I don't take it. Just gets the job of handling excessive daytime sleepiness done for me.

Haven't needed either one as often as I once did but I am very glad I have rx'es for both of them. There where times I would not have made it through my day without their help.

I didn't notice any benefit when I took provigil. Stimulants don't affect me at all. But, that's just me. It sounds like some people get a lot of energy out of it.

I have been on Provigil before and it would not let me sleep. In desperation I went on it again in combination with Lunesta ( non-addictive sleep medication) I have read the doctor's warnings on line but the question is- Do I want to live with energy and risk a side effect in the future or do I want to be a couch potato the rest of my life. Duh! I have had CFS for 20 yrs. and am 57 yrs. old. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

    I just started 2 weeks ago...and for me...it's GREAT!
    Wow...what a difference! I started out 1/2 pill in the A.M.
and it lasts all day into evening hours...I'm not in bed at 730 at night anymore.

For me,it's been like night and day...wondering why I haven't been offered it before now?

It's not a burst of enegry type thing...it just sort of clears the fog...I'm not soooo tired, that I go back to bed...I actually can stay alert and awake. No buzz type thing...just a steady type alertness.

At night I take the Flexril, and 2 Tylenol PM...works like a charm...I can sleep a full 5 hours now!

So far...so good on the Provigil...

We are all so different...what works on me...might not on you...but give it a try at least.
I did make the mistake and took it with Lyrica...wrong move for me...made my head swooshy.
Now I take the Provigil in A.M. and Lyrica at night.

I've been taking Provigil for several years. It saved my life. I used to have to drive 75 miles on the interstate to get to my pain doc. Many many times, I've fallen asleep while driving. Waking up because you are in a different lane with semi trucks blowing all their horns at you is a very scarey place to be!!!!
I take it first thing in the morning and I'm good for all day. I start getting sleepy about 8 or 9 pm. I think it is wonderful and would really hate to have to give it up!!! I know now, that if I don't have it, I just do not drive. No matter who I'm supposed to be seeing!!!

I am also afraid to take it. I am afaid of stimulants. I hae a Mitral Valve Prolapse and worry if it will make my heart race? I took on once when I first got it and was in the twilight zone. My father-in-law did tell me that day that I look great and so much more refreshed? But just to scared to take it again?

That is my little experience, I know I did not give it a chance so will be keeping tabs on this post for info also.

    Take care of you! Codey

Yes, I take 400 mg every morning. I used to take Cylert, which is used for ADD but has the opposite effect for CFS, but that was taken off the market.

I have had no problems with it. I am not sure it gives me a lot of energy, but on days when I don't take it I can tell. When I first started Cylert in 1997, I noticed the difference right away. Then over time I wasn't sure it helped, but was afraid to stop and go back to no energy.

I always take Ambien for sleep at night and have since 1993 so the Provigil has not bothered me there.

    Good luck.
