I have found that Aleve helps my pain better than Ultram or other things I have taken. If I take it before tht pain gets too bad, it really seems to control it. However, when I take it I retain fluid very badly. Anyone else have this problem? What over the counter pain meds work for you?

    Hi Trena,

My Dr. suggested Aleve for me as well, but because i take other prescription drugs, he advised me to "mix it up". Take Tylenol one day, then Aleve the next because of stomach bleeding. I take Darvocet at bedtime because it makes me a bit drowsy and it takes the edge off my pain. I do have swelling, but usually it's because i eat sugar or have a soda...both on the DO NOT EAT list!!

Hope this helps and good luck to you!

    Thanks Bobbi
I have heard it can cause liver problems. It definitely causes me to retain fluid but it is the only thing that really helps the pain. I overdid it today because I felt good this AM and by the middle of the day, I was hurting so bad. I had to take an Aleve and 2 ultram tablets. That only took the edge off.
