Anyone take Effexor or Cymbalta for Neuropathy??

My husband's diabetic neuropathy is slowly getting worse. His doctor tried Neurontin----didn't seem to help. While there's no cure for neuropathy, his doctor suggested Effexor for the pain.

Does anyone here take this drug for neuropathic pain? I know many use it for depression, it's true usage.

I'm also asking about Cymbalta---while my husband's doctor didn't mention this one, I notice it actually claims to be useful for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (as well as depression)---anyone use this one?

    Thank you!

I don't know about neuropathy, but I have been taking it for 2 weeks and it helps surprisingly with my pain issues. Even at low dose of 37.5 mg.

I believe it is similiar to Cymbalta which I have read helps with diabetic neuropathy.

    Good Luck.

I edited my post to include Cymbalta, as I just read it DOES claim to help neuropathy.

    Thanks, Pam

...Effexor XR last week and I am thrilled to see it has helped others with pain. I am having a difficult switch from my Paxil right now, but glad to see it might be worth it!

Has your hubby tried either for pain yet and how is he making out with it?

After 2 weeks on the low dose my back pain started coming back, so I upped a few days ago and feel improvement.
