I went into total remission while on the Famvir for 10 days. I had to take it for facial surgery. My doc is looking into antiviral treatments as he's not knowledgeable about stealth Herpes-family viruses and possible treatments.

Good luck to you and please keep us updated. Madwolf is right; be ready for a Herxheimer Effect which may make you feel as though you have the flu complete with diarrhea.

A Herx is a good sign that these wee beasties are dying off in your body.

Famvir is the newest of the antivirals and has fewer side effects. Other than that, he said they are all basically the same and cost about the same (an arm and a leg).

thanks, for the input, it's going okay. I did feel like crap for about a week. Terrible headaches!

The doc is hoping it will help with EBV and CFS

How would antivirals cause herxing? Antivirals interfere(slow down or stop) with viral replication. They don't "kill" anything.
