I'm thinking about getting one to see if that will help my dry eyes.

Any suggestions or what to look for would be appreciated.

I use one off and on. With the peptide injections, my eyes and mouth are no longer dry, except for a light occasional flare. With the A/C on, however, the air can just get too dry. I am very careful about keeping the humidifier clean. The pharmacist said to just buy the cheapest one available. He said it doesn't matter about warm mist vs. cool mist. The warm mist almost immediately cools off when it hits the air in the room.

You wouldn't think Alaska would be dry, but it's as dry as a desert up here, with clouds of dust everywhere, I use a Pure Guardian H4500 and it seems to work great, even for my birds and cats. Can actually breathe and it cuts the dryness,

I also have an electronic air cleaner. I don't need it much when I'm inside with the A/C on but with he doors and windows open, it helps clean the air.

Yes, my A/C is a central system, as is most anyplace down here. I don't know how people lived here before A/C and mosquito control.
