things a lot and have to ask people to repeat. Especially the DH but he gets tired of it. So I guess I have some extent of loss. How bad is yours? Are you talking about equal loss of hearing in both sides evenly? Just wondering. Hope you are doing ok otherwise. Pardon my bad joke. Sitting here at work bored. That NEVER happens so I'm just having a little fun for a change! (Smiles!) Jo

    hi msjoey!
do you have FM? I have hearing loss and was told its from FM.
    My rhematologist told me this.
I dont know if you are in the same situation but just curious if this is a symptom that is common
I have bad hearing on one ear the other is getting some loss but it good in general.
I have to buy hearing aids now.
Its very bad when I cant hear what somewon just said to me and feel silly asking to repeat things over for me.
I guess its like somewon who wears glasses but those darn hearing aids cost a real fortune
    thanks for listening

I have severe tinnitis because of the fibro and connective tissue problems in my ears. Just drives me crazy. Suzanne

I have tinnitis also, and then TMJ,which has caused some hearing loss. I am hoping I will hear better when getting the treatment for the TMJ.

Only my right ear is affected.

Yes, and I've always attributed it to listening to music too loud when I was younger. Don't remember hearing about hearing loss being a FM symptom, but it makes since to me. And I do also have TMJ. I wear a mouth splint every night (well almost!) and my jaws rarely pop or hurt anymore. Still have trouble hearing tho, especially picking a sound out of a place with lots of different noises. Could be the fibrofog concentration thing too. Anyway we're not alone in this. I hope we can all find some relief for it.

I have had trouble for sometime with hearing or understanding what people say. I have to ask them to repeat themselves several times. It is embarrassing. I also have been dx'ed with a pseudotumor cerebri which I also attribute hearing trouble with. This is just another symptom people do not understand. I am 30 and to tell someone I have trouble hearing, they look at me like I am crazy.

Yes, I was having trouble with dizziness and balance. During testing they discovered that I had a hearing loss in my right ear related to bone conductivity. The ENT said it could be contributing to the dizziness. He doesn't know much about FMS.

Yes, I have both FM and hearing loss. I just had another hearing test this summer and it's a little worse. My problem is high-pitched sounds, but so far it's not a big problem. I didn't know this is another symptom of FM.

Hi, don't know if FMS and hearing problems are connected. However, I have tinnitus, and I have FMS, but the tinnitus, as far as I know is from the Celebrex I took for about a year. I felt great on the Celebrex until it started disrupting my stomach lining and caused the tinnitus. So, maybe the hearing problems are from the meds we take???

    Peace,
    Beth.

Speed, glad you found our board.

I have had Fibro for 20 years, and my hearing is extreamely good, no problems at all. I have never read anything that relates hearing loss and Fibro (neither have I had a doctor tell me this).

I also have an acute sense of smell and taste, and only use glasses to read. I do get blurred vision in the mornings, but I think that is related to the morning fog.

Mel, I have cut and pasted your information about the hearing aid, I have a cousin that has very bad hearing and is considering a hearing aid. As usual, thanks for good advice!

i HAVE BEEN HARD OF HEARING FOR YEARS. 2YEARS AGO i DECIDED TO HAVE SURGERY ON IT AND I WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN IT DONE. DIDN'T HELP AND SEEMS TO PLUG UP MORE.i WAS NEVER TOLD THAT IT WAS DO TO MY ILLNESS!! LONG AGO A DOCTOR TOLD THAT, IT WAS DUE TO LOUD MUSIC. IT IS EMBARRISHING THOUGH, ESPECIALLY TO PEOPLE THAT YOU DONT KNOW, AND ALWAYS HAVING TO SAY, EXCUSE ME!!! DIDN'T HEAR YOU !!!!

I have both tinnitus and hearing loss, both of which I get intermittently, but frequently. It usually only happens for up to 2 minutes at a time, but it's quite scary. I think it genuinely IS part of this wonderful CFIDS/FMS syndrome. But if your loss is on a more permanent basis, you might want to check out an ENT specialist. The hearing probs could all still be muscle-related, and explainable through Fibro though.
