I am having a devil of a time losing weight and in fact have gradually put on 10 pounds this year. I have a lot of belly fat and am wondering about the idea of Cortisol?? Does this effect Fibro sufferers and is there anything we can do about it other than trying silly supplements that are advertised on TV at 2am??

I hate to say it, but I have the opposite problem. i'm about 112 lbs and have been trying relentlessly to gain a few pounds but find it almost impossible. I wish I had some ideas for you,Take Care Laura

When I have my bouts of CFS I lose weight. I've lost 20 lbs. I gave up all sweets, juoices, nuts, and chocolate.

When people comment on my weight loss, I tell them I'd rather be fat and happy then sick and thin.

My dr. put me on metformin because my cortisol was so high (most of my weight gain is on stomach, but of course it is other places too), and he said it would help with weight loss, but that it would take a while.

That was a few months ago, and between my diet changes and the metformin I am slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwly starting to drop a pound here or there. At least my fat's shifted around or something, because I can wear smaller t-shirts with my smaller jeans and not have my gut hanging out over the edge ^_^ ...well, too badly anyway. Still some work needs to be done, but hooray. I don't want to look at a scale tho.

I was going to ask you if you're on any meds that might be contributing to your weight gain.

That has been my struggle. I fight just to keep from gaining because of the meds I'm on.

    Take care,

Dr Wong says that Estrogen tells our bodies to put on belly fat. Soy: the poison seed also reacts as an estrogen and so should be avoided.

My wife and I just got rid of all the soy in the house. Using almond milk and rice milk.

Cortisol is a stress hormone from the adrenal glands. High cortisol is just a symptom of CFS/FM bodies trying real hard to keep going. Rest when you're tired and avoid caffiene. Exercise and stretch when possible.

Take a look at Dr. Wong's data on enzyme therapy:

Also read about Virastop for attacking viruses:

I've just started dumping estrogen soy out the door and started enzyme therapy.
