as I said, this question is from my mom. She has trouble with the top of her foot burning and is very painful. She has new orthodics from a great Podiatrist, is having PT, using good shoes ALL the time, etc.
Our family dr thinks its just the FM, but she was wondering if anyone else has this same problem and what you've found that works for you to help the pain.

and hands for the past several weeks and it has kept getting worse each day and it was keeping me awake at night. My doctor was not able to help me (He just ordered more blood tests and an ultra sound which did not reveal anything) so I finally went online and googled my symptoms and read about all the possibilities.....and there were several. The one that struck me as the most plausible however, was..a vitamin B12 deficiency because I have Leaky Gut Syndrome and am not able to absorb nutrients that well. So I had my doctor give me a vitamin B12 injection on Friday and since then I have taken several sublingual B12 supplements and my symptoms have subsided, significantly. I still have some numbness but not as much.
Anyway, I would go online and see what the different probable causes are for your symptoms (burning feet) and then go to your doctor with some ideas of your own as to what it might be. My doctor was going to send me to a neurologist because he thought the numbness was caused by a pinched nerve. In my case, I was able to rule out many of the possible causes and find the problem on my own and I saved a lot of time and expense.
    Good luck with it!!!

    It drives me potty!!
Tried using a hot water bottle filled with COLD water!
Run cold water in a bath/bowl and give them a good soak!
Have a fan blowing on mine whilst I am in bed at night. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't!!
I also get the 'burning' sensation up my legs. It stops about 3inches above my knees'!
My specialist said it's one of the many symtoms of FMS.
    Hope she gets some relief.

I have been diagnosed with erythromylalgia, can also be spelled erythromyalgia. It is called burning foot syndrome. It is listed as a rare disease in the United States. I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist after 30 years of suffering. The burning began on my feet and has spread to a few inches below my knee within the last 10 years. For 3 years, I have been on Cymbalta. It makes the pain much more tolerable. You can google for more info. Hopefully this helps. I spend my days with my feet in front of a window ac. Also, have a very low tolerance for heat. Kind of lonely pain...<BR>

My husband has had burning feet for a long time. A couple of months or so ago the doctor did a blood test and found his vit.B12 is low. He started with an injection once a week for a month, and then once a month. It went away! for a while and then started (some) again. The doctor has begun the process all over, and it's gone again. <BR>
The doctor said something about "getting the B12 saturated in his body."<BR>
We are delighted!! Hope your mom will check this out...

I've had intense burning in various places over the past year. Had it along the sides and top of my feet for couple months. Had an area on my forehead too. My PCP thought it might be from a (herpes) virus, so I took Turmeric capsules, 3 times a day. Burning went away in a day or two and hasn't come back, yet.
