I am an FM mum with two FM daughters aged 15 and 16, things just seem to go from bad to worse, its just so hard and going to our GP does not help, she does not understand what we go through. I have tried to do the best I can to help the girls but sometimes I feel like I just cant go on. Money is really tight because my husband works around our needs, I am due to take the 15yr old to a Rhumy on 3rd oct,but would really like to know if he understands FM before wasting time and money, is there anyone in australia that has been to Dr Jaworski in Nowra NSW. thanks heaps pam

We do have a few members from Australia on the board, hopefully they see your post. The weekends are a little slow here, but the others are back on Mondays.

In the meantime you can check the good doctors list, here is the link and see if he/she is listed; http://www.co-cure.org/Good-Doc. htm

I wish you luck with the new doctor, and hope someone will come along to help you too.

    Shalom, Shirl

    Hi Pam

I am having the same problem. I am having a bad time at present and have seen my GP this morning. More blood tests and another visit to my Rheumatologist. I am so exhausted but no-one here seems to have an answer. I am seeing a psychiatrist who knows that it is not all "in my head" but they don't know how to treat me. I have not seen my Rheumatologist for quite a while (he tended to the view that I was imagining the pain and exhaustion!). I also have RA. I know how you feel and how frustrating it is to get the medical profession in Australia to understand what we are going through everyday. I live in Sydney so there must be someone who specialises in FM. I will be asking my psychiatrist when next I see him if he can recommend a specialist in this area. The main problem seems to be that all tests come back negative and they have nothing to go on.
I have not heard of Dr. Jaworski in Nowra. Maybe there may be more Aussies visiting this messageboard who can help out. Good luck Mellow

    Hi Pam,

Sorry to hear about your problems. There is a rheumatologist on the Gold Coast by the name of Dr. Julien De Jager, excellent! Mind you, there is nothing he can do but confirm what you already know anyway.
    Take care,
    Sam Vink

I'm from Sth Australia, so I'm probably not much help to you :(
I was supposed to see a rhumetologist earlier this year, but my doctor wrote down the appointment date wrong on my appointment card :(
Unfortunately I couldn't get another appointment with her, as she was going on Maternity leave & I was one of her last appointments :( So i'm still waiting.....
Goodluck with your daughters appointment. I hope that it goes well.

just replying to your post to let you know you are not alone in australia. I have been to many docs and 2 rheumys but none seem to be able to help. Lots and lots of hugs to you and your daughters and good luck with your visit to the specialist. I will be interested to know how the appointment goes and if you get any new info and help
