I was just wondering if anyone has gotten relief from B-12 shots and if you had to be B-12 deficient in order to get them.

Some years ago I went to my GP and asked for a shot and he ran blood tests and said that because I was not B-12 deficiant, he could not give me a shot. So I never asked again.

Is it worth the effort to try harder to get one? Does it help with the fatigue any?

    Thank you for any replies.

It helps. Maybe I should try the folic acid shots too!

    God Bless.

Yes, I am prescribed B12 injections every other day. The last time I had a blood test it showed I had lots of B12 in my system.

Due to the cost, I take them twice weekly now. I hope they help. I have finally improved some and would not stop anything I am now taking.

The injections are not painful and my husband fixes it for me. I can do the injection but he usually does it.

I am not B12 deficient and I have been getting the shots twice a week. They really help with energy. If you can, I think it's worth a try.

Thank you all for your replies. So how were you able to get your doctor to prescribe the injections with sufficient B-12 levels? I would really love to try this.

Also, do you take it while you're in "remission" or only during the flares?

The way I got a doc (gyn) to give me the B-12 shot (weekly) was: I told him that my specialist in another city wanted me to have them. Boy could I tell the difference. I would be practically lying down from exhaustion in the waiting room. Feeling very teary. 20 mins after the injection, driving off to run some errands feeling much better and a smile on my face.

I finally got a doc to order the mega dose 10,000 mcgs and got it from Pharmacy on the Park in Charlotte, N.C. They compound and they mail. I took that three times a week for years. But now I take Immune Transfer C. Which has helped me to the point I don't take the B-12.

    Hugs.
