Hi all. I have noticed today a rather large bruise on the back side of my left leg ( a couple of inches undeneath the knee) when I started to rub the bruise, I noticed a rather hard lump about the size of my thumb nail. This has me a bit alarmed. I dont remember banging my leg on anything to cause a bruise. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I have read that blood clots can cause bruising.

I agree with Jelly. Also don't rub it...if it is a blood clot it can break up by rubbing it. The ER can do an ultrasound to check it.

    Good Luck & Blessings,

Clots are normally very painful. Do you have pain? If it's a clot, you should be able to see it move upwards as the day goes by. Maybe you bumped your leg and just didn't realize it. I find bruises quite often and don't remember how I got them. It is best to get it checked though, for peace of mind.
