I,m having great difficulties at the moment. Basically if I sit up for any lenght of time my blood pools in my legs leaving me near fainting. Then when I go to stand up I cant easily do it and have to crawl across the floor.
It leaves me very shaky and shivery with pains in my chest etc.
Does anyone els have anything like this and what meds if any would be effective in treating this.
    Thanks

Therese, I don't know if this is a symptom of this illness, I haven't heard of it before. Please call your doctor now, and tell him what's happening. It sounds very serious to me. Please call him.

I did not even know it was blood pooling in my legs, just knew I could not even stand up long enough to brush my teeth. You need to get to a doctor asap.I had all those things and they did a tilt table test on me.Put me on a beta-blocker and told me to increase my fluids and salt intake.I have no thrist, look up under search tilt table test and also I just posted a question about this and got some great answers and a great website. This is very scarey and uncomfortable,I am very sorry that you have to go through this. But I always feel better flat on my back and they said to raise the head of the bed. They told me that autonnmic dysfucntion is a abnormality that they often see with this DD.Please call your doctor!!!LOve,Tracey

See a doctor ASAP about this problem! There's no need to suffer if you don't have to! Let us know the outcome and if things get better.

What you are describing is called Orthostatic Intolerance or Neurally Mediated Hypotension. There are ways to treat it and it frequently accompanies CFIDS and/or FMS. A good website for more info is www.ndrf.org

I also have it and take three different meds to help control it. I sit whenever possible instead of standing. I walk as seldom as I can. When I shop I only use stores that provide electric carts. In fact, I have recently ordered my own electric scooter (with a seat, not the kid type) to use when I am out.

I hope you are able to find relief soon.

I was hoping you would see this! You explain everything so well.I am still suffering and in limbo since my new primary doctor heard cfs and did not hear another word.I told him I fainted and he did not care and told me to stop all meds even beta-blocker.Called cfs specialist but guess I am going to have to suffer through the weekend.Tracey
