    Hi all,

Just recently ive had the feelings of detached, not with it, unreal sensations. It makes concentration impossible.
I beleive this is called brain fog.
Please advise on how i get rid of it as it is awful.
Do i need to change my anti-depressant?
I started ginko about a week ago in hope that will help, will it, if so how long before it works.

    Thank you

I am by no means an expert but in the last two weeks I have done a liver cleanse with the doctor's indication to do so and my brain is clearing up so fast I cannot believe it. I've also been able to drive as the dizziness is gone. I had very limited driving for months and months previous to this due to dizziness.

He also has me on a very restrictive diet to see which foods may be causing me problems and adding toxins to my system (therefore my liver not working like it should).

I also take Wellbutrin (recent switch from Paxil which I think caused me problems) and St Johns Wort from Metagenics (meaning high quality). I'm still trying to figure out how to sleep but as the St Johns kicks in I think it is helping a little.

    My 2 cents :)

Hi Nancez- Curious if your brain fog problems also include a feeling of being slightly off balance, and lightheaded?? I believe that symptomology is probably related to NMH problems,,,,but your post is interesting if the liver cleanse does help the problems i've described.

If you also have/had the equilibrium/lightheaded problems, i am interested to know if the liver cleanse helped that particular symptomology,,,,,and exactly how you did your liver cleanse...i have a capsule form of a liver cleanse supplement that i have not used yet, but i'm thinking a real liver cleanse is done differently??

    Hi JT

Yes I was also quite light headed and often lost my balance before I started this liver cleanse protocol. I really can't tell you of any scientific evidence or anything....I only know that here I am not quite two weeks into it and I feel so much better in all ways I can hardly believe it.

I am using the UltraClear Plus by metagenics, which apparently infuses lots of vitamins and minerals to help in the cleanse and help me stay strong as well. If you do a search on UltraClear you'll find some posts about it. In one or two of those I also wrote about the restrictive elimination diet I am on at thesame time as using the UltraClear.

This morning I found a wonderful article on the web about detoxing.the how's and why's and etc but now can't find it. If I do find it I willpost it and add your name to the subject line.

Will give the Ultraclear Plus a try,,,,,sounds like you've gotten great results, maybe it's something that my liver needs due to the amalgam metals i know it's been working to detox for many years.
I've been doing a bit of salt in my water lately,,,but tend to forget to drink water esp outside in hot weather......need to make sure i keep the water bottle with me at all times.

thx again...will let you know how the Ultraclear works for me...

I'm glad dehydration was mentioned because that was one thing I was told I was suffering from just before starting the UltaClear.and since then I've worked hard (it's gettign WAY easier) to drink 8 glasses a day of water.

I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and am seeing a holisticly trained chiropractor name of Adrian denBoer.

    Hi nancez and all,

    Thanks for your replys.

I was interested to hear you say the word dizzy, BIG problem.
I constantly feel like i am going to pass out along with this unreal feeling.
All this plays havoc with my anxiety.

Where do i buy this ultra clean stuff and have you found any food effecting it.

Spartanjt, What does NMH stand for?

This feeling is so disabling, so scary. Feel like i am going mad.

UltraClear is available online through the companywho makes it Metagenics. I feel comfortable with it however under a doctor's guidance (mine is a holistic chiropractor).

Along with this cleanse using UltraClear I've been on a very strict sugar, no wheat or other grains except brown rice, no dairy, no eggs, and the only meat is chicken or turkey that is organic. And TONS of water.i think all these things together are what is helping me so much.

Hey, I just posted on another thread-- asking you to update us on your liver detox, and then I found this thread!

I also had improvement in brain fog by eliminating my "food sensitivities" of yeast, wheat, soy and citrus.

Have not done a liver detox---doesn't help bloating does it??

    Fondly, June

I'm glad you found me intunejune, I can hardly find my wayback to places and maybe my brain fog isn't cleared up as much as I think it is! No matter, the diet and liver cleanse has done wonders for me and my brain. And the aqddition of 4 metagenics 450mg St Johns Wort with Folic Acid and B12 I think is finallly easing some of my sleep difficulties.

spartanjt....the diet is only for 4 weeks then I will one at a time intrioduce things back into my diet to see which might be causing me 9and my liver!) problems. It isn't as hard as it long as I stay home...and the cravings for the coke's (that was the ahrdest for me) mostly went away in the first 4 days or so.

Is that when I started taking the Guai, this type of fog almost immediately cleared up. I still have cognitive problems like memory loss and difficulty concentrating, but the fog is gone.

The other benefits of the Guai took much longer and I have no idea why it helped immediately with the fog.

    Love, Mikie

I get the Brain Fog when I'm Stressed, as soon as the situation is over, that was causing the Stress, I get right back to failry clear thinking.

Like the Week before last, I lost the lid to my Trash can, was trying to check hubby's lucky number's, on the wrong night, he still didn't win, lol. I even forgot to see my ENT Dr. on the Friday, before I went on my road trip, I forgot to write in down in my Book. I even talked to the Nurse that day, but I didn't realize what she was saying, lol, now I got to call and say I'm sorry.

But as soon as I was on the Road, everything just melted away, and I had a Great Time, I left on a Sat. and was already relaxed, although, I did forget my Glasses at Lynne's, on the way back, but she's gonna mail them. SO that's just a case of forgetting, like normal.

When I get the Fog, I also get that spacy/dizzy feeling, is that what you get? I lay down for awhile when that happens, that helps.

What med are you on now? I forgot? (that's a pun kiddo).

dear Nancy, yes brain fog is very scary, I got it and it scared the beejesus out of me especially to drive during the whole day I felt, well stupid and disconnected, it was very scary. But then i remembered that i had run out of one of my supplements, actually several among them MSM (METHYLSULFONILAMIDE) AND MAGNESIUM. As soos as i started taking them again, it cleared up. Please try it it works !! Just do not take the magnesium right after eating, it counteracts the digestive juices and will make you feel bloated, just wait an hour or two after eating to take it. Also do not take it at the same time as Neurontin for example. Best of lucks !

This is one reason I'm not back at work yet. I type backwards and my reasoning just doesn't work fast anymore. Everone I knows has a cure but nothing helps except patience. Knowing I have bad days and not trying to do bills or any important things on that day helps. I write down everything because I can't remember anything. When I go to the doctor if I have been having bad days I write down questions as they pop into my head. Coming to this site helps me remember the questions. Some of my bills have been put on automatic deductions so I took some of that stress away. Stress seems to interfer the most.
    Hope you have better luck.

Hello all- NMH means neurally mediated hypotension......which is a fancy term for your body does not move enough blood into your brain when you stand up, so that you get foggy, dizzy, or even faint. teach6 posted an excellent summary of NMH and POTS(postural tachycardia syndrome) on this site on 6/27/03, that is much more detailed and will explain it better.

Nancez- curious how long after taking the UltraClear that you noticed the difference in your brain function??
i'm already on a low yeast/low gluten/sugar free/dairy free/caffeine free diet,,,,and have been adhering to that off and on for the past 6 years..i've lost so much weight over the past few years, that i started supplementing w/a brown rice based protein powder to try to put some weight back on!
You might be interested to know that Dr Conley(cfs/fibro specialist) in Flint got me on the diet back in 1997, and the rice protein just a few years ago. I've gotten away from going to him, as i stopped getting improvements, and his fees were very high. I'm in the Detroit area so i was interested in your Grand Rapids doc,,,if may be he has a colleague in the Detroit area who he might recommend for some of these issues??

I will ask the doc if he has a counterpart in the detroit area. I have read good things on here about Dr Conley in Flint.

The brain fog and dizziness began to clear within 2 days of starting the ultraclear and the diet.

thx for checking w/your doc.......i have not given up on Dr Conley, and may still go back,,,,however, he was on sabbatical earlier in the year when i first attempted to get in to see him,,,and am hearing now that he may be retiring soon??
can you give me a link to the site where you purchased the UltraClear.......i'm wondering if you got more of your brain relief from your diet change itself, or the UltraClear,,,,you never really know sometimes what is helping and what is not.....thx again
