many of you are aware that I had a stereotactic breast biopsy this past wednesday. The doctor called today to let me know that thankfully, everything was benign...however. There is always a damn however. In my case, there is what they are calling 'atypical benign' cells, and they are recommending surgical biopsy for further examination. So I am back to the breast specialist on Wednesday. I know the outcome could have been much worse, and I am grateful, but still a little fearful and frustrated. I will let you know what his recommendation is.

    Thanks for listening and caring.

  3. So happy to hear this great news that it was benign... albeit "atypical"... I will continue to pray for you and hope that the surgical biopsy won't be as bad as you're anticipating.

Continue to look to The Lord and His strength... He will carry you through this next step as He did the first...

Thanking The Lord for this answer to prayer...

Do keep us posted... God bless you!

    Blessings and Gentle Hugs,
    Shel

    Hi Laura,
My girlfriend just went through this very thing. They told her that her atypical cells could turn cancerous at some point. She freaked and decided to have her breast removed. Now she wishes she hadn't jumped into surgery right away.

So whatever they tell you, do take some time to do some research, and get more than one opinion. Don't let fear drive you into a hasty decision.

I remember when I was 18 and the GYN doc told me I had some atypical cells in my pap and wanted to do a procedure because of that. At the time I thought it sounded drastic and refused to do it. Well I'm 60 now and sure didn't have any problems from refusing that procedure.

Not that I'm encouaging you to do nothing, just don't jump into doing something you might be unhappy with later.

    Take care,
    kbak
