Well, I've been called a pain in the butt and I've said other people are a pain in the butt, but I never thought the saying would become such a reality.

Since this started for me I feel like someone punched me right in the middle of each butt cheek. This wakes me in the night and stays painful all day. Tonight I just want to cry all the way home.

Does anyone have this pain? Is there anything that helps?

    Feeling so sad......Kathi

I think the gluteus maximus is one of the main sore spots we fibromites have. If I push there, the pain is through the roof and lying on it at night is no picnic either.
The only thing that gives any relief is hot baths, hot packs, or Theragesic cream.
That is only temporary help, though. Wish I could help more. It's no fun having pain in the butt.
Hope your pain lets up soon.

I don't think I've ever mentioned it to anyone but my hubby but I know what you mean. It is so hard to get comfortable in bed when your butt and hips hurt.

Thank You for bringing this up so I know I am not the only one.

Hi Kathi, Yes I also have pain in my butt checks. Mainly my right one. But it is a lot of burning hot pain. It feels like I have been burnt. Hang in there. Jeanie

I am very recently diagnosed and I have this problem as well. This weekend I was in excruciating pain in my butt and I thought I was going crazy!!!

I am sorry you are dealing with this!

One of my worst complaints is pain in the hip, butt, upper thigh area. Found that heating pads that will turn off automatically help tremendously...it takes two...

With the auto off kind you won't sleep too long on them while hot and possibly get burned....wearing pajamas or a long nightgown is essential as the heat will redden your skin otherwise.

Dating has always been interesting when things get serious and by the bed I have the heating pads, homedic double muscle massager and my pilates strap...my reumatologist thought it was funny to picture this scene. But comfort is more important than almost anything with this condition.

Oh yes, the massager works great too but it hurts initially.
I can't even get up out of bed most days without rolling over my butt, legs and back with the massager for 15 minutes. It helps.

    Hi Kathi;
This has been one of my major trigger points for years. Some if it is caused by sciatica, but not all. I soke, stretch, use heat, analgesic cremes (of course being careful not to get too close to the "anal" part lol), walk, and try to massage, but my hands hurt so bad most of the time it's hard to do this.

My hubby has carpal tunnel so it's difficult for him to massage, but massage and heat seem to work best for me.

Good luck and it doesn't sound like YOU are a pain in the butt. lol

This last weekend! My bootie feels so sore sometimes, and although soaking helps, I have to be careful how I recline in the tub. I have to lay over almost over on one hip. If I lay directly on my rear end, it makes my tail-bone area ache and ache and ache...

I had been wondering if I had somehow done something to my coccyx... Good to know that it is not just me that has a pain in the heinie! And I'm not talking about my hubby!!

I roll around on my exercise ball, that also helps strengthen my abs and thighs and stuff... I hope. I have had almost immediate relief from using my tens unit- sort of low-back, high butt- just either side of the base of the coccyx. It seems to radiate outward, and definitelt interrupts the pain signals!

    Good luck-

It is in the middle part of both cheeks. I use hot or cold packs&Tiger Balm[yes,be careful]. It sounds crazy, I "punch" the spots with a closed fist& it seems to break up the tightness.

When I was first diagnosed the dr. touched that spot & I jumped up&yelled.

It sounds funny to have a pain in the behind but we know how unfunny it feels.

And when I tell anyone like my mom and dad my butt cheeks hurt, (I'm single, no, I don't live with them, live down the street, but nice to go to their house to get a GOOD home cooked meal.) I really think they think I am CRAZY!!!! Now it is nice to know I am not alone!!! I HAVE gotten to the point of just not saying anything anymore, because everyday it is something different. Arms, neck, shoulders, back, bootie, legs, knees, feet. Just like a walking ball of PAIN!!! But you look fine. It just seems to be one thing after another. Have a good doctor, but, it is not the drugs I want. I want to be pain free again. Just my rambling thoughts, have a doctors appointment this morning by-the-way. Have a better bootie day. BJ

not that misery wants company but thank heavens someone else feels this. I thought I was crazy.I have the extreme pain in my hips and lower back but I also have it in my lower left butt cheek. I can hardly sit for long on it and sleeping is unbearable so I am constantly tryin g to get comfortable . I have never told any one about this pain as I thought they would just think it was in my head.

I have no butt to speak of - very flat - but I feel like I've been beaten almost all the time, and it hurts to sit. Actually, I've been in a flare for the last several days, so everything hurts. Then again, I have some unusual stressors at the moment. KatieB

For quite a few years I can remember waking up in the morning and thinking my dear hubbie had been hoofing me in the butt all through the night. A real owie!! That was before my FMS diagnosis.

In my last flare, I had the pain again but this time it caused some other problems. The back of my thigh felt like it was just raw skin. Horrible feeling. The bottom of my foot also hurt like the blazes.

Both the glutius medias and the piriformis muscle area in the buttock area are considered tender points. This can cause pain and pressure on the sciatic nerve.

From what I've read, there are stretching exercises that can help as well as trigger point injections. Mine just comes and goes as it pleases.

    Hope you feel better soon.

hi kathi, no you surely aren't alone in this one! When i try to explain to a doc. that it hurts to even sit on the toilet, they think i'm nuts! No lengthy novels here, i can't even imagine sitting thru a short magazine article! Its sit down, do what needs to be done and right back off!! so hard to even explain what all this DD does to us--no wonder they all think we are crazy! have a great day--laurie

I bought one of those pads that go on a chair and heat and massage you - that's how I get through work.

Thanks for all the shares :))

    Sorry about your butt pain.

I went to the doctor yesterday and I have a broken tail bone. The only comfortable position is laying on the bed (a Talay latex mattress, it's wonderful) on my hip.

The doctor said that it would be 4-8 weeks before I got any relief.

Ever try driving on one butt cheek?

My arse hurts SO bad! I work 10 hour days and by the end of the day, it is ALL I can do to remain sitting.

I have a meeting with an ergonomics specialist here at work. I can't wait to see what s/he says about that one!

I have terrible pain in the butt, hip, groin, and entire leg down to my toes. Also have it on the left side but to a much lesser degree. The pain on the right side radiates up to my right side; under my ribs and into my mid back; under my ribs. Does anyone else have radiating pain under the ribs and in the mid back under the ribs?
