    Health and well-being are forefront in the minds of many these days, and one way that some are improving their health is through taking supplements of colloidal minerals.

    Our soils used to be rich with minerals of all kinds. Heavy farming and overuse of our soils has left them depleted – meaning we no longer get the minerals our bodies need in our daily diet. Our bodies need at least 60 different minerals for optimal health; however, most commercially grown foods only have about 8. Some 45 different minerals are added to dog and livestock food, but not to people food! Our animals are treated better than we are.

    According to Dr. William A. Albrecht, Chairman of the Department of Soils at the University of Missouri;

    "A declining soil fertility, due to a lack of organic material, major elements, and trace minerals, is responsible for poor crops and in turn for pathological conditions in animals fed deficient foods from such soils, and that mankind is no exception."

    One way of addressing this deficiency is by growing organic fruits and vegetables and supplementing the actual soil with minerals – however, many of us have neither the time or space to do this. Most commercially available fertilizers for our gardens contain only 8 minerals, so finding the right preparations to do this is also difficult.

    Luckily, most health food stores and natural medicine shops offer reasonably priced colloidal minerals for supplementation. In chemical terms, colloidal refers to any ground up material in a suspension; in the case of minerals, this means the minerals are suspended in a liquid in such a manner to make absorption easier.

    It is important to purchase your supplement from a reputable vendor, and it should be PLANT DERIVED colloidal minerals as this mimics what your body is used to processing. Some unscrupulous companies have been caught simply grinding up rocks and putting them in colloidal suspension – then selling them to unsuspecting consumers. This will not be absorbed properly by your body.
    Some signs of mineral deficiencies include acne, diabetes, digestive problems, osteoporosis, depression, cramps, heart disease and cardiovascular problems, cancer, and liver dysfunction.

    Any Ontario wellness specialist or naturalist will agree that, all of us will live longer with proper mineral supplementation. All we need is a small amount of colloidally suspended minerals each day to address this problem, which is hassle-free and relatively inexpensive.
