Can I have a hug today?

    Hi, Everyone:

As my title says, I could really use a hug today! I have a brother I am guardian of who lives in a group home. Long story, but have not been real happy with the owner of Jim's group home for some time.

Last night Don (the group home owner) and I had a heated phone conversation. Just out of the blue Don said that I don't know my brother. I have known my brother for 49 years and Don has only known him for five! There's been a lot happening that I won't go into here, but we did end up our conversation on a more congenial tone.

There aren't many group homes where I live and several of them aren't very nice. I just found out the name of a woman who operates three group homes. So I called her last night and she has an opening in one of her group homes. Unfortunately, it is the one the farthest away-an hour from our home. But I know I can't be choosy at this point. If it's a nice group home, then I should take it. Unfortunately, she said there are two other people interested, too.

So I have to cross my fingers this will work out. My husband is on jury duty right now. I am hoping that this won't interfere with him driving me tomorrow. I have a hard time driving with the FMS.

I am doing my deep breathing and telling myself that somehow things will work out. I love Jim, but I wish sometimes that I could just think of myself and my husband.

I also need to find a ear, nose and throat specialist that takes Medicaid as Jim has had a cough and sore throat for several months. I took him to the clinic here (only place that will take Medicaid) and they diagnosed him with bronchitis. I kind of questioned that diagnosis, but Jim took the medication and it didn't really help.

Sorry this is so long. I guess I just needed to vent a little. Thanks for reading this.

I'm so sorry about your brother. That is a unique kind of stress and I hope the new group home works out. He's lucky he has someone like you who cares so much.

You may have all the hugs you want. You will be in my thoughts.

I hope that you are feeling you posted much earlier.
It has to be so hard on you....but I admire you SO VERY much for being there for your brother. You will be blessed for being so loyal to him.

I know how hard that it can be to try to do for others when you can barely do for yourself.

Hang in there dear......keep us informed.

    Big Soft Hug.........Mari

    Hi Ellen
Sorry to hear your wows.I know what you mean.Sometimes all our worries come to a head all at once. For me at times like this a little solitude does the trick.Sadly i don't get much of this - only at the gym lunch times or the 45 minute drive to and from work.

Anyway, just in case you still need it.I'm sending you a very big hug.
