Can someone please clarify EBV detection?

    I am still confused. I tested positive for EBV and doc says 90% of people by the time they reach 40 will test positive for EBV.

    So what does a positive EBV test mean?

    Empower-

    From what I understand- Anyone who has had mono or been around someone with mono will test positive. The key is Do you have active EBV?? You will have high titers if you do. Mine were 16 times higher than normal. That is considered active.

    I am being treated for it with Famvir. I also have mycoplsma and am taking Doxycyclene for that. I am not sure which one is working but after a 5 day herx I dramatically improved. I hope this helps. Maybe Mikie will chime in she can probably clarify things for you!

    This is a link to another thread on EBV. I posted the results from my own testing, so you can see it is more involved, just like the other posters here said, that just whether or not you've been exposed.
