I applied for SSI when I was not working(4 months). I have had quite a few periods of not working due to my health over the past 5 years. I began working during the process of being evaluated, and made over the allowed amount for 3 months, therefore I was turned down. Now I have the case reopened, and I am only earning about $350 per month, if that. I have FM, CFS, Psoriasis, Asthma, and High BP. I try to work when I can, it is a constant struggle. Has anyone been able to get SSI while working part-time? Thank you for responding...Jlouise

When I applied for SSDI my attorney told me that it would be best if I did not earn anything, but if I did to try and keep it below $500 max, and even better if it was lower. If you are earning close to the $800 they often assume you can easily earn the little bit more needed to put you over the limit.
