I don't know anything about colestid, but I would do my own research if I were you.

Last November my cholesterol was high (240) and my doctor had me start taking flush-free niacin, in addition to a B-50 complex vitamin. I started out with two 500 mg. capsules of flush-free niacin twice a day, and one B-50 complex vitamin, twice a day. After two weeks I went up to 1,000 mg. flush-free niacin twice a day but kept the same B-50 complex.

My cholesterol was re-tested a few weeks ago and it had gone down to 214, which I thought was pretty good, with no bad side effects.
