Recently diagnosed with FMS (after 15 years of misdiagnosis) by neurosurgeon, but now need good local specialist to hook up with. Anybody know of or have experience with one in the Columbus, Ohio area?

    Thanks

Hi Jeff, glad to have you join our group. If you will go to the top of this page where it says; 'Doctor Referrals'you may find someone in your area, if not then I am sure one of our members can help you.

Join the crown with the misdiagnosed thing, I have had Fibro for over twenty years, I know you can imagine all the bull I heard before a kind doctor took me seriously!

    Again, welcome to the board.

    Shalom, Shirl

Don't know about Columbus but there is a good one in Sidney, Ohio. His name is Dr. Bruce Urbanc and he is a DO. He was the one that diagnosed me with the cfs and fibro, but then I moved to Arizona and had to find another one, go figure. lol

    Hey Jeff-
I live in Columbus, and while my trouble is CFIDS, I've just started seeing a DO as well.
Dr. E Shearer, at the Beechwold Clinic in Clintonville. Right on High Street as a matter of fact.

I would guess he has some FMS patients, though I know he sees plenty of CFIDS sufferers.

Glad you're here, (though sorry for the reason), this is a good spot. Lots of info and support.

    Hang in there.

    HI Jeff

My Dr is not in Columbus but is in Cincinnati (Blue Ash), a northern suburb. His name is Dr Blatman and he runs the Blatman Pain Clinic. I have CFS and while he specializes more in FM he has been able to help me immensely with my CFS. He understands all the nutritional aspects of treating the DD and has advised me for the last 6 months on what to do and not do. The best part is that he really takes time with you and listens to all you have to say and discusses all the treatment options (good and bad). I recommend him highly.

I'm not sure where you live in Columbus but I bet it is no more than 1 1/2 hour drive. You can do a lookup under his clinic name and find his website.

    Best of luck

I will tell you one NOT to go to. That is Dr. Linda Gray in Columbus.

I am originally from Portsmouth, OH, about 90 miles south of Columbus. I now live across the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky.

My doctor in Portsmouth referred me to her and I was NOT satisfied with her at all!

Now I go to a Rheumy in Ashland, KY. With so many doctors in Columbus, I'm sure you'll find one that you like.

My daughter will be doing her internship at Doctors Hospital in Columbus beginning in July!
