Hi, I was reading the follow-up posts for Contessa's eye probs. Please, please follow up on the eye problems! DO NOT let them dismiss you on this. If I had not had the spinal tap in June to relieve the pressure on the optic nerves, more than likely I would have gone blind by now. This is very serious. The vision can just suddenly go out if it is pseudo tumor. You could wake up and not be able to see. Or be driving and lights out! Not to scare you guys, but please do some homework, look up pseudo tumor cerebri on the internet, write down all your eye pain, vision problems, etc and run to the doc. Let me know.

Because of the fibro, which can result in connective tissue problems in the eyes too, I developed what is called superior limbic keritoconjunctivitis. I had never heard of it but my corneal specialist says he has seen several people with fibro who have had this. It mimics dry eye but has nothing to do with dry eye at all. Because the muscles are not right in my eyes as well as in other parts of my body with the fibro, I get red whelps on the white parts of my eyes that have to be removed or resectioned as they call it. Took me forever to get a disagnosis. I kept thinking I had dry eye. Is it the most miserable condition, so much so that it bothered me worse than the pain. I had the surgery and I'm fine now. It could come back though. Because the problems in my eyes are still there, this could come on again. It's been a while so I hope not. Just thought I would post in case anyone else has been having these problems. I would never have related it to fibro but now realize we can have problems with our eyes, ears, anywhere we have connective tissue and muscles. Suzanne

Up all night with pain and appt was for 8:45 am. Next appt not avail until November. But I will do more research. I know this is bothering me a lot, but like the pain in hip and thigh, none of the doctors can find a link. I refuse to give up. I may have to live with pain but I'm not going to let anyone put me on the sidelines again. This thing has definately given me the take charge attitude which I was lacking before. Life's too short to let someone else call the shots for me. Thanks for the follow-up!!

That was a great summary - I've been having dry eyes and red eyes and painful eyes too, but I have so many symptoms I dread admitting them...connective tissue makes sense since I always have ear probs too...Grazie..BonBons

Contessa I always miss doctor appts. too, I feel too sick to go. Now I have no health insurance and can't afford it. Keep up the attitude - never give up is right. Been fighting with doctors (I hate to generalize) so long, I often want to give up. I stuck with one for 8 years and even asked him if I might have CFS; finally told him goodbye. We've moved so I will have to delay getting good treatment but I WILL get it. My intuition about the endo and autoimmune connection was right on. Can't tell you all what a relief this board is....finally I have some clarity along with my misery. HA!! BonBons
