The group is meeting the 2nd Saturday each month (instead of the 3rd) at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Room 2 of the Educational Department. The meeting starts at 10 a.m.

Last month was the first meeting, I hope those in the area will consider attending.

I only get on the message board about once a day, I'd appreciate someone bumping it back to the first page occasionally. :)

What time is the meeting and where do you go in at the hospital to attend? I have been away from the board for a while and didn't realize there was a meeting.
How many was there for the first one?

I was noticing that you both live in TN. Well, so do I.
I've been diagnosed with FM only about 4 months ago. Just wondering if yall know any good Dr's who treat FM.

I've seen 2 Dr's so far, and one of them totally blew me off and acted like i was nuts!

I live in Memphis, and any info. helps.

(how far is Cooksville from Memphis) what are the meeting about, are they useful?

The meeting starts at 10 a.m.

If you go in through the outpatient registration entrance it a straight shot. Just Follow the signs toward the OB Department. Almost immediatly you will see a sign that says "Education". We're in Room 2.

Last month was the first meeting, it was just a small group of 5. It felt so good to get together and talk to someone who understands what we are going through.

The time seemed to fly--we talked about 2 hours.

    Are you interested in coming?

The meetings are really just a way to connect with others who have Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It helps not to feel isolated and to talk to others who have common experiences and problems.

I hope that we can learn from and support each other.

Unfortunately Cookeville is not close to Memphis. Cookeville is in Middle Tennessee, about 5 hours from you.

Perhaps you could call the hospitals near you and ask if they know of any support groups that meet in your area. Or ask at the doctors office.

I go to a physical medicine specialist, many go to rheumatologists, and some neurologists. Good luck in your search to find a doctor. There is a place on this website to look up doctors in your area.

I have been diagnosed almost a year, and am still learning. I didn't know anything about FMS prior to my diagnosis.

I switched my work so that I would be off the third Saturday, I have to work this Saturday!!

Murphy's law always seems to apply to me. I am determined to make a meeting sometime!!

Good luck on a good meeting,

I was so hoping to meet you, I'm sorry that you changed your schedule for nothing.

Would you like to meet me somewhere and talk the third Saturday?

The meeting changed because the facilitator has another committment every 3rd Saturday and she gets too exhausted to do both. The other committment is a monthly program she assists with at her church. They have a "Angel Food" program where they distribute food.

I don't expect it will be moved around again. That makes it too hard for everyone. But the group needed a leader and she has more experience leading a support group than anyone else who is coming.

Let me know if you would like to meet, I don't remember where you live so I don't know where to suggest meeting.
