Are you looking for pain relief or help sleeping (or both!)

I've heard that it can help pain, but it doesn't really help sleep..

..just what I've heard, no personal experience..

I suppose I am seeking more of a pain relief. I've read up on it but, have yet to find a person with fibro or anything for that matter that was prescibed it.

It is usually not prescribed because of the "stigma" attachted to it.

    It is synthetic THC.

We get Marinol prescribed here in our nursing home for residnets that have depression accompanied by "anorexic" like symptoms.

It increases your appetite and helps a little with depression and acts as a mood stablizer, but I have never heard of it helping with sleep. Unless your sleep issues are due to anxiety . . . . .??

is used for severe nausea in which other meds haven't worked and for people with with anorexia/wt loss. I havent seen it used for pain relief. The only times I have seen it used are for chemo patients or elderly patients who wont eat, to stimulate appetite.

Methadone, on the other hand i have seen used for pain.

I'm not a doctor tho, just telling you what i've seen as a nurse in the hospital.

What else have you tried for pain?

I have CFIDS/M.E., FM/MPS complex, Lyme, etc. and was prescribed 2.5 mg of Marinol when I had just turned 26. I had never smoked marijuana before, so my doctor and I had no idea what would happen.

It was prescribed to me for insane, ubiquitous pain and to increase my appetite as I dropped to 85 lbs and am 5'3. I also had severe nausea.

Unfortunately, I became very dizzy, and I guess "stoned?" I was stuck in the bed and unable to move or speak - no exaggeration. I could think and see my parents and brother come into my room to check up on me, but I couldn't respond.

It's usually for nausea and pain for cancer patients or others who suffer from those symptoms due to serious illnesses.

It didn't work for me. I didn't have to ask for it either, but I'm in NY where there are loads of FM and CFIDS/M.E. specialists...

Hope it helps, but personally I'd try something less potent.
