Patches have a purpose - but not in my life.

Patches can be beneficial. When applied properly they can repair a torn garment and render it wearable again. A skilled seamstress can apply the patch so that it is hardly noticeable. Patches come in handy, especially when little boys tear the knees right out of their pants. A patch can strengthen the torn spot and restore the integrity of the fabric so that the pants are good as new.

While patches work in repairing clothing, they are not appropriate for repairing your life. You can not go through life patching things together. Relationships, financial issues, and family problems may appear to be held together by patches, but eventually the patches fail and gapping holes are visible everywhere. You may find holes in your emotional life, spiritual life, and even physical life that can not be repaired by a self adhesive patch. The only remedy for brokenness and lack is Jesus Christ. When you surrender your life to him you will be made whole and brand new.

You may have been making a patchwork out of your life. Now you know to quit patching things up and instead become new in Christ. - Gail Lindsay

"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:22-24
