    Hi

Does anyone else get really tight bands developing all over their body; deep inside arm, leg, neck and back muscles etc. When I press into the muscle it feels like guitar strings, but softer on the top. Feels like I'm being tightened up from the inside out. And as the muscle groups tighten nervous system symptoms increase; burning and tingling sensations.

My hip muscles are in constant spasm which pull on my back muscles and create a constant feeling of being twisted. Only thing that gives temprary relief is a trigger point locater and treatment tens device. But it takes hours to work all the tight areas and feel different.

My muscles actually feel like the texture is all wrong - that they're rubbery and tight and get stuck at the insertion points, ie. elbow joints, knees, hips, shoulders. All my tests are proving negative but my FM symptoms seem to be a bit different from most others.

Interested to know if anyone else has similar symptoms to mine.

    Thanks
    Gill

HI GILL, I ALSO HAVE MUSCLE BANDS AROUND NECK, CHEAST, AND MY BACK, MAINLY IN THE SHOULDER AREA. MY REFLEXOLOGIST
SAYS THEY ARE LIKE STEEL. SHE CANNOT ALWAYS WORK THEM OUT.
I AM ON 650 DARVOCET AND 350 SOMA, AND THEY JUST TAKE THE EDGE OFF. I DO SHOULDER ROLLS AND NECK ROLLS IT HELPS SOME
WITH THE HEAD ACHES I GET FROM THE TIGHTNESS. PLUS I GET IN THE POOL ALOT AND WORK OUT. KIM

    Hi Gill:

I get muscles spasms in my lower back and down into my hips and upper thighs, My muscles get extremley tight and recently I went through three days straight of this. I have been using Yoga with really gentle stretching which does seem to help especially to help loosen up the muscles. I don't know if you can do any yoga but there are some programs designed for people with FM and it does help me. Hope you are feeling better soon. LOL

Just a thought, are you taking Sea/Rock Salt? It helps with cramp so thought it may help with this also.

Have you read the article by Mrs B "Functions of Sea salt"?
    It`s very interesting.

    Love Pat.

I've also had the sensation of my muscles being twisted........very odd feeling. It happens mostly with the muscles in my left ankle and wrists sometimes. It's as if someione is taking my ankle and twisting the hell out of it......when I have this sensation I just know that if I look down my foot should be facing the opposite direction! It's a really weird and uncomfortable feeling to say the least.

    Hi

Have foudn out what's causing it all - a severe tightening then spasming of my psoas muscle - has affecte my whole body.

Went to see a psoas specialist who diagnosed me with short tight psoas muscle on the left side that over time had caused rotation of my right side body muscles, then I got severely constipated which caused my right shoulder to freeze up and then due to emotional stress I had a spasm in he right hip and it was locked up for 2 years. Am just getting function back in the right psoas and my other muscle problems are starting to go away.
There was a serious knot under my ribs on the right that has been cleared and I am feeling a lot better. Now I need to keep doing all the stretches to get normal function in my body.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards
    Gill

I have a range of health probs including migraines,FMS & CFS. I know what you mean, while many talk of bands around their heads or limbs crushing them, I often feel the opposite - that my brain or my bones are pushing against the skin trying to get out of my body. My symptoms are complicated and all started after a brain haemorrhage. I have hormonal imbalances and low blood pressure, compounding light headedness and diagnosis. I am currently going crazy searching for things that help. Are you taking magnesium and malic acid? These are recommened tohelp muscle spasms, and a specialist has put me on magnesium chelate. (Powder form called MuscleEze). Too soon to tell what the effects are. Plain magnesiium oxide tablets do not seem to be absorbed as well so have a much smaller effect.
I find many doctors sympathetic but useless, or suggesting wide ranges of (expensive) unsubsidised supplements.
I don't think anyones symptoms are exactly alike, so keep trying and good luck!
