I have been living with excruciating pain and fatigue for over 10 years - I know I am singing to the chorus... Am desperate for help. Does anyone have kind and/or helpful doctor, immunologist or infectious disease doc in Cleveland area.

Have tried the Cleveland Clinic - they are big on exercise and multiple antidepressants - I don't do well with either.

Am soooo discouraged and sad about feeling helpless in getting help...if that makes sense. The pain today is 10+ and I am not sure I can bear it at this level much longer. Crying my eyes out all day.

Have gone to the ER in past for pain and breathing problems (from chronic mycoplasma infection) - only to have doctor roll her eyes at me. Devestating response...

Maybe I need some encouragement too, I guess. I really feel heart broken today. I am all alone and snowed in.

Any replies I would be more than grateful for.

I don't live in the US so I don't know about docs in you area.

BUT there is a regular member here called Mikie - she had mycoplasma infection and was given long-term doxycycline treatment for it.

Perhaps you could post another thread for her with her name in it so she sees this as she is very experienced at dealing with mycoplasma and stealth infections.

    Good luck!

He treats chronic conditions without conventional medicine. His supplements are expensive but they work. Your insurance, unless you have Kaiser, will pay for the office visit, but not his supplements.

He is not taking new patients for his general practice, but will treat you for the CFIDS and Fibro and I think he treats Lupus as well.

and you're not too far from Cuyahoga Falls (I'm lousy with geography), there's a really nice doc that just moved up there.

Dr. Steven D. Smith. He's with the Summit Pain Specialists, Inc.

    Does natural whenever possible.

    Good luck.

So sorry you are suffering so much with pain and fatigue. Only those of us who have been through this, can really sympathize with you. I wish I could recommend my doctor, but he is too far away for you. He has helped me so much.

I do have some advice, though. Several years ago, my husband drove me (three hours from our home in Michigan) to the Cleveland Clinic. Do not go there. When it comes to FMS, their thinking is in the Dark Ages. I was given this test and this "proved" to them that my pain and other symptoms were because of my depression. Why is it so difficult for those in the medical field to realize that maybe years of pain and fatigue can cause depression not the other way around?

We also visted other departments at the Clinic for other health problems I have and I was impressed with them. In case you haven't checked them out yet for your FMS, I didn't want you to waste your time.

There is a doctor in North Canton named Dr. Frank Pellegrino. This doctor has fibromyalgia himself. I was thinking of seeing him.

I work for the Cleveland Clinic and I KNOW most of the doctors are useless for fibro, unfortunately.

If you live in a Cleveland suburb, it should only take you about 45 minutes to get to his office.

Again, you might have to pay out of pocket to see him. Look him up on the internet. Good luck to you. Hugs, Chelz.

It might be a little farther than you'd like to drive but I see Dr. Resseger in Norwalk, Ohio. I've been going there for 20 years. He treats allergies, CFS and Fibro, excellent with thyroid issues as well as a family doctor. Great doctor and staff. He is a D. O. and also practices environmental medicine. He uses both conventional medicine and some alternative such as supplements and so forth. Good luck!

I've never been able to find a pain doctor that would help...any tips on working with this doctor?

My dentist actually has given me pain meds for a root canal - 4 or 5 and I keep them for security - the pain is sometimes so bad I think I will expire...

I live in Central Pennsylvania. I have been a patient of Dr. Felicitas Juguilon since October 2004. She used to be the physician at the Fibromyalgia and Fatigue Center of Cleveland. Her new office is located off I-77 in Seven Hills, OH.

I am being treated for Fibro, CFIDS, hypothyroidism, insomnia, hormonal imbalances, and most recently Lyme Disease. Dr. Juguilon is a knowledgeable and compassionate physician. She treats many patients with Fibro and CFIDS.

You can do a search on this site for myself, Wishingonastar, or Sarasmom to find out more about our treatment with Dr. Juguilon.

Good luck in finding a doctor!

the UH pain mgmnt. doctors are very knowledgeable and friendly. I been there since 1991. do you have insurance?
If you do it can't hurt to go see someone.

Like i said there is a fms/cfids center in middleburg heights.

Re; Dr f. julegon in seven hills, I saw her when she was at the fms center, didn't care for her, as did many patients. The new doctor there is much better.

can I ask what it is you have?????

I had a brain injury 10 yrs ago when carbon monoxide was vented into my condo - didn't know it for a long time and my health went down hill. Afterwards, my doctors gave me many diagnoses - CFIDS, FM, heart problems (POTS etc), low bp, and chronic pain - most recently a severe respiratory problem - like asthma - but inhalers don't help.

I guess I relate most to my CFIDS diagnosis - because so many of us got infections or something after a trmatic event, in my case, a brain injury. I have made lots of strides - but like many, wish for a full recovery or just a way to grab back a little more life, I guess. There is so much I'd like to do and so very much I missed out on.

I also am using the UH Pain Managment Clinic on Clague Road in Westlake, OH (as Lavender 14). My doctor there is Dr. Donald Woods. I got connected with them through a presentation they did at work and I was impressed by the many, many methods for pain management.

We are starting out slowly - my most intense pain primarily comes from the low back and is very intense - I have a rod that runs down most of my spine from scoliosis so my low back suffers. He was sympathetic and knowlegeable about fibro and referred me to a rheumatologist in the same building. (I have not seen a rheumy regularly for about 6 years - primary doc is treating me with pain meds, etc.).

My fibro started 18 years ago and was not diagosed until about 10 years into it!!! I am happy to get a new and complete rheumy workup. I am back "on a mission" after many years of just living with it. My flare ups seem to be daily now and I am just plain old TIRED of it!

He has sent me for PT at Southwest (Lifeworks - great facility). The therapist there changed his orders from massage and 10s unit to warm pool water therapy. I really like the water therapy. It is very relaxing but I have just started so I don't know what the results will be.

I would recommend seeing this group for management of your pain. You, and any other Cleveland, Ohio folks can email me at and we can discuss it further if you like. Just put "FIBRO PATIENT" in the subject so I know it is not spam.

Also regarding the Fibromyalgia Clinic in Strongsville - there information states they are not affiliated with any insurance groups so you will always be paying OUT OF NETWORK costs for anything they might do for you. As we all know - these things add up even when in the network. Between my personal premim contribution, prescription copays and office visits -- my monthly costs are more than my first housepayment! That is so sad.

I noticed that you have low BP and breathing problems. Just a note here - I have always had low BP and 6 years ago I developed allergies to everything that grows between spring and fall! I am certain these are related to my other problems. I also have been diagnosed with Hashimotos (thyroid abnormality). Just checking to see if anyone else has similar problems.

You have really given me a wealth of info...and i am so thankful!

What kind of pain treatments - meds and other types have you benefited from?

Did you find your low bp and allergies where from your thyroid? Or how did you find out you had thyroid problems...

If you are in need of an allergist my doctor that I mentioned in Norwalk is second to none. I've found many of my symptons have been improved greatly by allergy shots, along with treating candida yeast and meeting thryoid needs which he is also very knowledgeable about.
