I’m posting this ad for my mother, who has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She’s been sick for about the last 10 years, and is showing no signs that her illness may go into remission. If anything she’s getting worse. My mother was a patient of Dr. Jay Goldstein, one of the leading CFS specialists in the country and was doing well with the treatment he had put together for her over the years. Unfortunately, for legal reasons, Dr. Goldstein had to shut down his office a couple of months ago, leaving my mother with no one to treat her.
She was on a number of prescription drugs used to treat her symptoms. Now that she no longer has a doctor her prescriptions have run out, and she is so ill that she’s bed ridden, literally. She’s expressed to me a desire to no longer go on living. Which, as I’m sure you can imagine is greatly distressing.
What I need help with is finding her a new doctor. We could spend months calling and trying out new doctors, and that’s too long for her to go on being as sick as she is. We need a Doctor who would be willing to prescribe drugs, because my mother has tried EVERY method of treatment and has had just about every test done known to man, but the drugs used to treat her symptoms are the only thing we’ve found that make a difference. She has her complete medical records from Dr. Goldstein as well as records of the various tests she has undergone. She doesn't have the time, energy or money to undergo the tests most Doctors require of new patients. If you know of an open minded CFS Specialist, or Dr. who treats CFS and would be willing pick up were Dr. Goldstein dropped off, at least in the beginning until a new method of treatment is found, I would greatly appreciate your help.
    Thanks for your time.

If she was seeing Dr. Goldstein you must be in So. California, right? Try the doctor referrral on this site, and also call Fibromyalgia Network at 1-800-853-2929, as they have a large database of docs all over the country, recommended by the patients. Dr. Goldstein is going to be a hard act to follow since he was so cutting edge.

To hear about your Mom, sure hope she finds a good doctor soon.

Klutzo gave you the best sources for doctors, so just stopped to wish you well.

Will say a pray for your Mom, and you also.

    Shalom, Shirl

thanks so much to all of you for your input, it still amazes me how difficult it can be to find a CFIDS doctor whose treatment methods work for her. The frustration and despair that goes along with calling all those doctors offices!!! But I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir at this point.
thank you all again, and the best of luck to all of you. If I find a good doctor I promise to spread the word.
