I've had CFIDS for 16 years, and suddenly I'm spirallying down fast.

I've been reading a ton of books and am amazed at how much more information, protocols and treatments there now are....

Can anyone suggest a great CFIDS doc in the Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area (California) -- who takes Medicare/w Secondary Insurance? I'm on SSDI and can't afford....same old story.

I'd be most appreciative of your time, help and consideration.

    Best wishes.

I live in Silverlake. I think during the last year someone posted re: a dr at Cedars Sinai who was good w/ CFS cases.

I'll look thru my notes. I know I wrote the name down somewhere. If I can find it, I will let you know.

For chronic fatigue I know of Dr Chia, an infection disease specialist in Torrance, CA.. He has researched and been treating CFS for years. Published many articles in medical journals.

You can only get appt with him by having your primary doctor fax your medical records, lab results, along with consult request.

I was recently diagnosed with a high level of Epstein Barr Virus. My doctor immediately referred me to Dr. Chia.

He is very well respected in the medical community, most doctors go to him. I don't know his insurance requirements, you would need to call his office.

I know it is listed in the phone directory in Torrance. The second choice is to get into Dr. Hortorfs office, also in Torrance. He runs the Fibro and Fatigue centers. I am not sure of all of Dr. Holtorfs treatments, but I have heard they do intravenous vitamins/supplements that apparently have helped some people. There are many here on this board who are in treatment at the FFC centers all over the United States.

He is so booked up, I agreed to see his nurse practitioner and got in in one week. I am going to see both doctors, just to see what they recommend. I have been so sick for so long, now I have real evidence of the EBV.

Normal levels of this for negative result is less than 99. My blood level of the virus is 3,573. My doctor things it is a old virus in my system.

One reason I want to work on this is I read this virus is linked with a couple of cancers. One is Burkitts Lymphoma.

At this time, I will go forward and get all the help I can.

Another doctor who is pretty famous is Dr Anand in Marina Del Rey. You can do a websearch on Dr. Anand - Marina del Rey and probalby find out about him. He has written many books. I'm not sure if he is more focused on fibro or CFS.

My best recommendation is Dr. Chia, but as I said, I am going to see both to see which one I like best.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write. Was it by chance a Dr. Silver? Or someone beginning with an S? (Sorry my memory is really really a sieve these days.)
I look forward to hearing from you, and really appreciate your help.
    Best wishes,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write, and pass on the doctors' names. I will definitely call Chia and Ananda's (sp?) office Tuesday. I actually spoke with Hortorf's, well emailed them, a week ago about endocrine problems I've also been having -- I know it all ties together.... their first office visit was $400 plus, which I just don't have, alas. They sounded very good and very comprehensive from their website, their professional response and other things I've heard of them. I HOPE HOPE HOPE they help you. That is scarry information about CFIDS? or Epstein Barr being concected to cancers. I haven't read much material for a number of years since I was more or less getting by....obviously, I have alot of catching up to do. Best wishes with your search for help and wellness. Thank you so much.

If you need the San Fernando Valley, the Good Doctor List includes a doctor in Tarzana.
