diagnosis by famous MD's

I realize that most of the "famous" names in CFS don't see patients but for those of you who see doctors like Cheney do they independently diagnose you or accept prior diagnoses? Also, have they been helpful to you in filing for disability?

I am desperate and considering seeking treatment from one of these big names in the field but I am wondering if this would help or hinder my pending SSDI case. If these doctors are not helpful to those filing it could look very bad -- I mean having an expert in the field not making a strong case for you.

As many of us have experienced, doctors can sometimes hesitate to get "involved" because they simply don't want the extra work or possible hassles.

    What do you all know?

    Thanks.

I discovered a great site listing a lot of CFS knowelegeable doctors. Go to the following site: www.aacfs.org/. This is the orginization who organized the big conference last month in Ft. Lauderdale.

If you click on members directory, you can join, no money; it just sets up an account for you and then you can search on their directory of members. There were listed a lot of CFS specialists.

When I first saw this site, I thought one couldn't access the members directory without being a professional, but that wasn't true.

Thanks. I'm on my way there now. I hope some of them actually see patients. I will read your other posts about this topic too.

    Thanks.
