I made a previous post about using an advocacy clinic for obtaining Disability from SSI. However, Elaine P made a good point in that a paralegal can't represent anyone in the Federal Courts. Now I am wondering how many here had to go that far before their benifits were approved? I think a quick poll would serve those trying to decide which type of represenation they need if filing because of there DD's.

Go to court~ I applied for SSI in 94.....Denied of course, filed an appeal and went to court sometime in early 1996??? I did have a legal aid represent me so I did'nt have to do too much talking. But I was asked a few questions by the judge. I think it lasted about 20 minutes.
I was approved but it took a long time.I had a few medical conditions for which I was applying. FM,scoliosis, endometriosis, and 2 herniated disks and IBS.
Best of luck to all......its a struggle thats for sure!!
I also had to see one of THEIR Drs. Hope this helps :)
