Hey, the reason im basically on this message board is to figure out if i have CFS or not. I have been very tired for the last 4 months and have had every test in the book done, and hence have been chucked in the CFS basket, i have had to pull out of univesity for this year, im 21 years old. The reason i dont think i have it is because i feel almost drugged (hungover feeling) and have a foogy head all the time along with the tiredness. Although physical work is hard for me to do it does not seem to make me feel worse as i have heard it does to some people with CFS, instead i just feel consistatly tired all the time. I have no muscle aches, i have sore eyes, and also a constant pins and needles feeling in my left hand. I am resonably certain that i didnt have a virus leading up to this, i basically just woke up one morning feeling tired and hungover. I trust you guys more than doctors as your experiencing CFS first hand.

    HI, brimcp,

Being exhausted not just tired in your twenties is a real bugger!! I know because I was 25 when I realised I was not my usual energetic self.

There's no simple way of telling if you have CFS cos it can have a variety of causes. Even if people appear to have the same root cause, they and their bodies react differently!

My bad times are not necessarily been brought on by physical activity or excess stress either. But I sure can tell the difference between being normally (healthily?) tired and having the chronic fatigue symptoms. The two states feel really different. Do you notice this? Can you remember what it felt like to be just plain tired and then feel ok after a good sleep? That just doesn't happen with CFS. I usually feel worse in the morning during relapses.

I hope you can find a doctor who is prepared to check into your past illnesses too and is up on the latest research. One thing occurs to me... the eyes and the one-sided numbness sounds like my sister who had some mosquito carried illness called adeno virus years ago which triggered problems for her in 2000. Might be worth chiecking that out. The Marshall Protocol ( an antibiotic treatment) is having some good outcomes with people like her and me whose bodies have failed to deal adequately with past illnesses and have developed complications including CFS.

Here's to you for being brave enough to search out info for yourself! Hope things come together for you ASAP.

Honestly it's different for everyone. I've had CFS since my early teens, but I pushed myself & kept playing netball, basketball, tennis etc.. Up until the age of 22 where I literally collapsed & couldn't do anything anymore.
I have had a FMS diagnosis also for a couple of years.
Sometimes when I feel my utter worst, when i can barely keep my eyes open, people will tell me that I look great. Other times I am pale & drawn, & I feel kinda okay for me.
So it's deffinately different for everyone ;)

Generally people tell me I look great or dont look sick at all. It bugs the crap out of me!! This is apparently quite common with people who have CFS - they often dont look sick. I do sometimes think I look tired though.

Hope you find out soon whats ailing you.
