I went in for acupuncture and the doc talked me out of it (say what?) Said the effect wouldn't last

Prescribed tens machine which I have at home

I mostly have upper back pain, so I am wondering if it will help

The tens unit has helped me a lot & my cousin, who suffers terribly with FM ,recently got one & she LOVES it. Also, have you heard about Flector Patches? They have to be prescribed, but are very helpful with pain. ( my cousin has also had success with them)

    Good luck.

i also have a TENS unit, and it really does help, mostly with the pain in my lower back, and through my shoulders area.

when the pain is just nagging and nagging away, i use my TENS unit, and it helps take the edge off.

    it's defiantely worth a try.

How long throughout the day do you use it?

The units have timers, usually set for a 30 -60 minute should not sleep with one going. I would ask my Dr. how often you should use it as everyone's condition is different as far as pain goes.

    Good luck........bxteacher
